About The Position

SSI is seeking an Engineer Mech Sr to work onsite at a Navy program in Norfolk, VA. This role involves providing technical support in the principles, techniques, and practices of mechanical engineering, electrical/electronics engineering, and/or naval architecture as they relate to aircraft carrier hull, mechanical and electrical (HM&E), aviation, and electronic shipboard systems. The position requires extensive knowledge in aircraft carrier maintenance philosophy, ship installation drawings, RCM principles, and ship operations, as well as the ability to organize data for evaluation and action. The engineer will also support the development, management, and refinement of the non-nuclear CMP, BAWPs, and modernization for execution during CVN availabilities, ensuring technical requirements, periodicities, and configurations are current. Data collection, management, and analysis of maintenance, risk, and material condition for specified systems or components are key responsibilities, along with assisting in the development of life-cycle strategies for aircraft carrier distributive systems and components, and developing, maintaining, and reporting metrics.

Requirements

  • Secret clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 5+ years professional experience in engineering

  • Data analytics & maintenance and modernization experience related to aircraft carriers, naval ships, or large ship design, construction, or maintenance

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support in the principles, techniques and practices of mechanical engineering, electrical/electronics engineering and/or naval architecture as they relate to aircraft carrier hull, mechanical and electrical (HM&E), aviation and electronic shipboard systems.
  • Organize data in a cohesive manner to submit finding for evaluation and action.
  • Provide technical support for the development and management and refinement of the non-nuclear CMP, BAWPs and modernization for execution during CVN availabilities.
  • Ensure technical requirements, periodicities and associated configuration are current within each assigned CMP maintenance requirement.
  • Collect, manage and analyze data (e.g., maintenance, risk, material condition) of specified systems or components based on specific criteria and submit finding for evaluation and action.
  • Assist in development of life-cycle strategies for aircraft carrier distributive systems and select components.
  • Develop, maintain and report metrics as required.
