About The Position

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking Mechanical Engineers to join a global engineering team responsible for the implementation and technical evaluation of designs and the continuous innovation of its rapidly expanding data center footprint. Engineers at Amazon design resilient, cost-effective mechanical systems, are responsible for achieving world-class uptime, and justify and communicate technical decisions to senior management. They drive continuous advancements and improvements in designs, and define and design the systems customers rely on. This role requires hands-on mechanical design and field experience, with an understanding of critical data center equipment needs and the constructability of varying designs. Teamwork is essential, requiring collaboration with internal and external groups, including utilities, manufacturers, vendors, and contractors. The role involves working with Principals and Senior Mechanical Engineers to drive design standardization, resolve technical issues, and participate in research and development of new technologies. The engineer will be a subject matter expert, writing technical documentation, and conceiving, initiating, and leading projects with widespread impact. This involves breaking down complex problems into actionable solutions, understanding user requirements, and collaborating across disciplines, cultures, and countries. Escalating issues and communicating effectively with diverse audiences are key. The role also includes reviewing and approving critical equipment submittals, providing technical support for large-scale events, and maintaining technical mechanical forums. Support and mentorship for the Data Center Engineering community are also expected, along with a fun and creative approach to problem-solving.
