Amazon Web Services is looking for Mechanical Engineers to join a global engineering team focused on implementing and technically evaluating designs, and driving continuous innovation for our expanding data center footprint. Engineers at Amazon design resilient, cost-effective mechanical systems, are responsible for achieving world-class uptime, and justify technical decisions to senior management. They drive advancements, define systems, and possess hands-on mechanical design and field experience, including operating mechanical (Cooling) systems, understanding critical data center equipment needs, and the constructability of various designs. Teamwork is essential at Amazon. You will collaborate with internal and external groups, including utilities, manufacturers, vendors, and contractors. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will work with Principals and Senior Mechanical Engineers to standardize designs across global production data centers and resolve technical issues. You will participate in research and development of new technologies and designs, acting as a subject matter expert and writing technical documentation. Your responsibilities include leading projects with significant impact on infrastructure design, innovation, and implementation by breaking down complex problems into actionable solutions. This involves understanding user requirements, collaborating with diverse teams, escalating issues as needed, and communicating effectively with a wide range of technical backgrounds. The role also includes reviewing and approving critical equipment submittals, including vendor Witness Tests, providing technical support for global Large Scale Events (LSE’s), and participating in deep dives and investigations. You will maintain and host technical mechanical forums to foster collaboration and provide support and mentorship to the Data Center Engineering community, all while contributing creative solutions.
