About The Position

The Sr. Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel and gasoline industrial trucks and other industrial machinery. The role includes conducting equipment surveys, troubleshooting mechanical issues, performing repairs that may involve fabrication and welding, and maintaining and lubricating tools and equipment. The position may also involve changing tires, batteries, and other parts, as well as testing cargo tanks for compliance with U.S. Department of Transportation specifications. The work takes place both inside an office environment and outdoors, in high- and low-temperature conditions. The mechanic may be exposed to odors, dust, dirt, mechanical hazards, high noise levels, and potentially dangerous equipment. The position requires crouching and stooping in areas with restricted headroom, climbing ladders, and may involve extended computer use and prolonged sitting.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
At least 5 years of related experience with diesel and gasoline engines and heavy equipment repair.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Access, and Excel.
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external business partners.
Ability to work effectively with or as part of a team.
Ability to manage projects that may vary in nature and scope.
Ability to prioritize, organize, and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously.
Ability to perform in a detail-oriented environment.

Ability to work with minimal supervision and make independent technical decisions to complete timely and effective repairs and maintenance.

Knowledge of office practices, procedures, and etiquette.
Knowledge of applicable computer applications and basic computer functions.
Ability to crouch and stoop in areas with restricted headroom and climb ladders.
Ability to use a computer keyboard and view a monitor for extended periods, and to sit for long periods.

Nice To Haves

Technical school education.
Class A CDL or ability to obtain one within 90 days of employment.
Forklift certification.

Responsibilities
