A Day in the Life The Senior Materials Engineer will work in a team environment representing Materials Science and Engineering with a focus on metallic, magnetic, and ceramic materials. Duties include materials selection, processing, problem-solving, biostability, and materials regulations. We are working onsite a minimum of 4 days per week as part of our commitment to fostering a culture of professional growth and cross-functional collaboration as we work together to engineer the extraordinary. This role will require less than 10% of travel to enhance collaboration and ensure successful completion of projects.

Requirements

  • Requires a Baccalaureate degree and minimum of 4 years of relevant experience OR Master's degree with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience OR PhD with 0 years relevant experience
  • For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.
  • The employee is also required to interact with a computer, and communicate with peers and co-workers.
  • Roles below the Principal level require candidates to possess unrestricted U.S. work authorization at the time of hire and for the duration of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze, research, design and develop materials and their related fabrication and application processes to develop and optimize materials for use in engineering design of and/or application in structures, systems and subsystems
  • Apply principles of chemistry, physics, and material behavior to develop metallic, non-metallic and composite material and processing specifications, fabrication and assembly processes
  • Develop, analyze and apply material properties and design allowables, processing processes and quality engineering specifications
  • Material analyses may include failure analysis of components, systems and subsystems, life predictions, and definition and requirement specifications
  • May review and approve subcontractor material processing procedures
