About The Position

Raytheon Vision Systems (RVS), a leader in the research, design, and manufacturing of focal plane arrays and flight-based vision systems, is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer in Goleta, California. The engineer will oversee the assembly of focal plane module arrays, optical components, and/or electromechanical assemblies from design implementation through shipment. The role leads manufacturing engineering efforts on moderate- to high-complexity programs, supports factory operations, interprets engineering drawings and specifications into build plans, creates schedules, and oversees nonrecurring and recurring tasks for program builds. Work includes cleanroom environments requiring full coverall garments. The role may evolve into a lead position involving delegation of tasks to less experienced engineers. The engineer will support high-mix, low-volume electromechanical assembly processes, develop manufacturing plans and instructions, generate bills of material, participate in tooling reviews, and help ensure hardware and production documentation comply with engineering, quality, safety, and security requirements. The position also involves troubleshooting, investigating defects, improving manufacturing processes, and presenting investigation results to peers and management.

  • Experience in a semiconductor cleanroom (class 100) work environment.
  • Understanding of semiconductor physics.
  • Knowledge or experience with wet etch, metal-lift off, lithography, plasma cleaning, or associated semiconductor processing equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee assembly of focal plane module arrays, optical components, and/or electromechanical assemblies from design implementation through shipment.
  • Lead manufacturing engineering efforts on moderate- to high-complexity programs and provide engineering support to the manufacturing factory.

  • Work with adhesives application, precision alignment, paint, weld, and cleaning processes for high-mix, low-volume electromechanical assemblies.
  • Use Microsoft Office Suite for daily communications, tracking, and documentation of manufacturing processes.
  • Write manufacturing plans and instructions in accordance with engineering specifications, quality requirements, safety needs, and security requirements.
  • Generate Bills of Material (BOMs).
  • Participate in tooling reviews and evaluate and provide feedback on tool designs.
  • Review hardware for compliance and generate work, rework, and repair documentation.
