About The Position

Weir ESCO is seeking a Sr. Manufacturing Engineer for an onsite position in Port Hope, ON. This role is crucial in developing and implementing process improvements within our foundry operations, focusing on safety, cost, delivery, and quality. The ideal candidate will lead projects from conception to completion, maintain a strong shop floor presence, and apply technical expertise to reduce process variation. A commitment to safety and a collaborative approach are essential for success in this role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Industrial, Manufacturing, or Mechanical preferred)
  • Minimum 6 years of manufacturing engineering experience
  • Proven Project Management skills related to Manufacturing Engineering Improvements.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, adaptable to different audiences

Nice To Haves

  • Experience managing projects from scoping to execution, including schedule and cost development
  • Hands-on manufacturing environment experience with a willingness to work on the floor alongside operators
  • Mechanical hobbies or interests that demonstrate practical skills and curiosity
  • Experience leading change through influence

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement process improvements for Weir ESCO’s foundry operations, focusing on safety, cost, delivery, and quality enhancements.
  • Identify gaps, analyze processes using lean and statistical tools, and collaborate with manufacturing teams to prioritize and execute improvements.
  • Lead projects from scoping through execution using internal and external project management best practices.
  • Design/modify production systems, equipment, and processes, and ensure quality through FMEAs and Control Plans.
  • Manage competing priorities and deliver projects that align with plant and global objectives.
  • Maintain a strong presence on the shop floor, building credibility through listening and collaboration with operators, supervisors, and leadership.
  • Incorporate operator input into process improvements and adapt approaches to the unionized environment.
  • Apply structured problem-solving, process capability analysis, and engineering economic tools to evaluate and reduce process variation.
  • Use Design for Manufacturability concepts and industry research to innovate manufacturing processes.
