Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement robust manufacturing processes for new and existing products, focusing on lean manufacturing principles, automation, cost reduction, and scalability.
  • Develop and optimize CNC machining processes, including milling, turning, multi-axis machining, and fixturing strategies to improve throughput, yield, and part quality.
  • Define and support heat treating processes (e.g., hardening, tempering, stress relieving) to ensure material performance, dimensional stability, and specification compliance.
  • Support and improve brazing processes (torch, furnace, induction, vacuum, or controlled atmosphere), including joint design, material selection, and process controls.
  • Provide technical guidance and leadership to a team of manufacturing engineers, fostering professional development and ensuring execution aligns with company objectives.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for machining, heat treatment, and brazing processes, supporting troubleshooting, process improvement, and training efforts.
  • Lead complex manufacturing engineering projects from conception through completion, including planning, resource allocation, budget management, and risk mitigation.
  • Support capital projects involving CNC equipment, furnaces, and brazing systems.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement, yield enhancement, defect reduction, and waste elimination using Six Sigma, Kaizen, and Lean methodologies.
  • Drive improvements in machining cycle times, heat treat consistency, and brazed joint quality through data-driven analysis.
  • Evaluate, select, and justify new CNC machines, tooling, fixtures, heat treat furnaces, and brazing equipment, ensuring compatibility with production needs and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with suppliers on tooling, cutting parameters, furnace profiles, and brazing consumables.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, process flow diagrams, control plans, PFMEAs, and setup sheets for machining and thermal processes.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for complex manufacturing issues related to machining defects, heat treat distortion, or brazing failures, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Work cross-functionally with R&D, Quality, Supply Chain, and Production teams to ensure seamless product introduction and efficient manufacturing operations, particularly for machined and joined components.
  • Ensure all manufacturing processes and equipment, including machining centers, furnaces, and brazing operations, adhere to internal safety policies and external regulatory and industry standards.
