About The Position

Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation is seeking a Sr. Manufacturing Engineer specializing in Composites. This role is crucial for developing and implementing manufacturing and engineering projects to resolve critical problems, requiring significant process restructuring, major technological advances, or extensive related development. The engineer will be responsible for an entire manufacturing project of major complexity, aiming for process development or improvement. They will make authoritative technical decisions and recommendations impacting manufacturing activities and projects. The position involves applying advanced technical principles to manufacturing projects critical to aircraft manufacture, system installation, and performance. The engineer will also lead the development of innovative principles for existing and potential manufacturing processes, acting independently to optimize processes, cost, and schedule performance. They will develop standards and guidelines for diverse Operations Engineering activities and conceive investigations in areas critical to the program where precedents may be lacking. The role requires the ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering or a related curriculum required or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
  • 13 years in the specific technical discipline or 15 years broad engineering experience in several technical disciplines, or 11 years in the specific technical discipline with Masters degree, or 9 years in the specific technical discipline with PhD.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

Nice To Haves

  • Composites experience preferred
  • Extensive knowledge in aerospace composite manufacturing preferred.
  • Experience in Non-Distructive/ Ultra Sonic testing preferred
  • Lean Six Sigma/ Green Belt certification highly preferred
  • SAP/Solumina/Smarteam/CATIA experience preferred
  • Advanced degree in engineering or related curriculum preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide and maintain detailed work instructions for the assigned manufacturing process.
  • Drive quality improvements, efficiency improvements, and material presentation enhancements.
  • Manage the daily work plan and provide metrics for quality and schedule performance.
  • Coordinate engineering and tooling changes as required to meet Operations goals.
  • Be responsible for an entire manufacturing project of major complexity aimed at process development or improvement.
  • Make technical decisions and recommendations that are recognized as authoritative and have an important impact on extensive manufacturing activities or engineering projects related to manufacturing process development.
  • Provide technical assistance and training to Operations Engineers.
  • Apply advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts to manufacturing projects that affect the successful manufacture of the aircraft, installation of the systems, or performance of the aircraft.
  • Lead the development of innovative principles and ideas regarding manufacturing processes in use or that could be applied to existing processes.
  • Act independently to determine improved methods and/or procedures to optimize manufacturing processes, cost, and schedule performance.
  • Develop standards and guidelines for diverse Operations Engineering activities.
  • Conceive and plan investigation of broad areas of importance for which manufacturing or engineering precedents are lacking in areas critical to the program.
