Sr. Manager, Production Planning & Scheduling

Hadrian Automation•Torrance, CA
•$80,000 - $175,000

About The Position

Hadrian is hiring its first Sr. Manager of Production Planning & Scheduling to own factory-side execution. The role is responsible for discrete operational scheduling, job sequencing and prioritization, and the daily and weekly operating rhythm that supports on-time delivery. It reports to Operations leadership and establishes a consistent scheduling methodology across the network, partnering closely with site General Managers. Planning and scheduling team members will support sites day to day, with a dotted-line relationship to each GM, while the Sr. Manager owns standards, methodology, and rigor centrally. This is a hands-on builder and owner role. The successful candidate will develop scheduling methods, communication practices, and visual management, then codify them as standard work. The role provides the floor, Program Management, and leadership with clear, credible information on what is being produced, in what sequence, and whether commitments will be met. It also partners with S&OP to translate network-level allocation and capacity plans into executable factory schedules and to feed actual execution data back into capacity planning. The role leads production planners and schedulers as the function scales, building capability through talent development, standard work, training, and performance management. Hadrian describes itself as building autonomous factories using AI, software, robotics, and full-stack manufacturing to serve aerospace and defense customers.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in production planning, scheduling, or shop-floor operations management in a discrete manufacturing environment.
  • Deep understanding of production scheduling, sequencing, priority management, master scheduling, capacity and constraint analysis, and on-time delivery drivers.
  • Hands-on experience with scheduling, ERP, or MES systems.
  • Strong analytical and data visualization skills.
  • Experience leading teams and developing planning and scheduling talent.
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to drive urgency and accountability on the floor.
  • ERP/MRP expertise, including work order lifecycle, MRP mechanics, and maintaining schedule and date data integrity at scale.
  • At least 5 years of progressive experience in production planning, scheduling, or manufacturing operations.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management, Business, Engineering, Finance, or a related discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Own discrete production scheduling and job sequencing across work centers to maximize on-time delivery and throughput.
  • Own work order release to the floor and control which work is released and when.
  • Set and manage priorities and milestone dates, establish transparent sequencing rules, and make trade-off decisions when priorities conflict.
  • Maintain schedule and date data integrity in systems and drive accurate MRP schedules.
  • Build the daily and weekly scheduling cadence and standard work, including shift-level execution and weekly look-ahead.
  • Translate S&OP network allocation and capacity plans into an executable, sequenced factory schedule.
  • Partner with site General Managers on priorities, sequencing, and daily execution.
  • Establish systems and cadence to track work orders through the floor, monitor milestone status, identify at-risk jobs early, and drive recovery.
  • Own on-time delivery as a primary metric, track performance, identify root causes of misses, and close performance gaps.
  • Ensure materials, tooling, capacity, and priorities are aligned before work reaches the machine.
  • Identify constraints and bottlenecks using execution data and partner with Operations and Engineering to improve capacity.
  • Feed actual cycle times, constraints, and attainment back to S&OP to improve capacity models and sellable-capacity commitments.
  • Develop scheduling methodologies, sequencing rules, buffering, and prioritization frameworks, and codify them as standard work across sites.
  • Establish communication cadence, escalation paths, and reporting for the floor, GMs, and leadership.
  • Build visual schedules, boards, dashboards, and status views that make factory status, priorities, and risks clear.
  • Establish scheduling metrics, including OTD, schedule adherence, past due, work center utilization, and cycle time performance.
  • Lead, coach, and develop production planners and schedulers, including team members embedded at and dotted-line to sites.
  • Build organizational capability through talent development, standard work, training, and performance management.
  • Foster accountability, urgency, and continuous improvement.

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans for employees.
  • 401(k).
  • Relocation support may be provided in certain situations based on business need.
  • Flexible vacation policy.
  • Equity.
