Sr. Manager, Product Design

Treasure AILos Altos, CA
$203,500 - $254,400Hybrid

About The Position

We are seeking a talented and collaborative Senior Manager of Product Design to lead and grow our product design practice at Treasure AI. This is a player/coach role: you will manage and develop a team of designers while remaining a hands-on contributor—building prototypes, creating product marketing assets for events, and being the first on your team to experiment with emerging AI tools and methods. This role sits at the intersection of user experience, product strategy, and cross-functional collaboration—owning the end-to-end design of our core product surfaces and helping shape how AI-powered tools and workflows are experienced by our customers. This role requires strength across two dimensions: Human-in-the-Loop capability High-Stakes Presence & Judgment: Demonstrates the emotional intelligence and intuition needed for live customer engagement, calculated risk-taking, and value-driven decision-making. AI-native fluency Technical AI Integration: Masterfully blends independent data mining, advanced prompting, and automated workflows with an AI-first approach to drive operational efficiency. A word on where we are: Treasure AI operates with the urgency and energy of an early start-up company. Our internal mantra is progress, not perfection—we move fast, we learn in the open, and we ship before everything is fully figured out. Structured processes and long planning cycles are not where we are right now. That's a conscious tradeoff, not an oversight, and we know it's not a permanent state. If you've spent most of your career in large, process-heavy organizations and need a lot of structure to do your best work, this role will likely feel uncomfortable. If you've thrived in environments where the path isn't always clear and you'd rather build the road than wait for directions, you'll fit right in.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Interaction Design, Product Design, HCI, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 6+ years of product design experience, with 3+ years in a people management or design lead role.
  • Portfolio demonstrating end-to-end product design work across complex, data-rich, or enterprise software—with examples of hands-on IC work alongside team leadership, systems thinking, and measurable outcomes (e.g., improved activation, retention, or time-to-value).
  • Proven cross-functional leadership: able to direct designers, align with product management and engineering, and communicate design decisions clearly to diverse stakeholders.
  • Deep expertise in user-centered design methods, including mixed-methods research with technical or hard-to-reach personas, journey mapping, prototyping, and usability testing.
  • Proficiency in Figma and design system tooling; experience building prototypes and designing product marketing content alongside core UX work.
  • Understanding of repositories, branches, commits, and pull requests
  • Experience designing for SaaS, data, or AI-powered products; familiarity with CDP, data infrastructure, or technical user personas is a plus.
  • Experience designing AI-native product features—with practical understanding of uncertainty, human oversight, failure states, and responsible use of customer data.
  • Working knowledge of WCAG accessibility standards and a track record of advocating for inclusive design in enterprise contexts.
  • Hands-on fluency with AI-assisted design tools and a track record of experimenting with new tools, evaluating their output critically, and building that knowledge into how your team works.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with CDP, data infrastructure, or technical user personas is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and mentor a team of product designers, providing clear direction, constructive feedback, and opportunities for growth.
  • Develop design talent, building a team culture of curiosity, inclusion, and continuous improvement.
  • Set the pace and tone for the team—modeling how to move quickly, make decisions with incomplete information, and iterate in the open rather than waiting for the perfect brief.
  • Facilitate design reviews, critiques, and cross-functional alignment sessions that keep work moving and stakeholders informed.
  • Represent the design team's perspective in roadmap planning, sprint reviews, and leadership discussions.
  • Collaborate with the Director, Design & Web and other design leads to maintain a coherent brand and product experience across all customer touchpoints.
  • Oversee product design for one or more product areas, owning the experience from discovery through delivery—and rolling up your sleeves to contribute directly when the work calls for it.
  • Partner closely with product management and engineering to define problems, explore solution spaces, and ship experiences that move measurable outcomes: activation, adoption, retention, or task completion.
  • Build interactive prototypes to communicate concepts quickly and support product and sales conversations.
  • Maintain design quality and evolve the Treasure AI design system, balancing craft with velocity and ensuring consistency across product surfaces.
  • Design product marketing content for events, conference presentations, and external-facing product storytelling.
  • Be the first on your team to experiment with emerging AI design tools—test new capabilities hands-on, document what works, and coach the team from real experience rather than theory.
  • Use AI tools (Figma AI, generative prototyping, Treasure Work, and others) to compress cycle time on exploration, synthesis, and production tasks; establish shared team norms for where AI adds value and where human judgment must lead.
  • Design AI-native product experiences thoughtfully—accounting for confidence levels, failure states, human override paths, explainability, privacy, and bias—so customers can trust, verify, and act on AI-driven outputs.
  • Stay ahead of emerging interaction paradigms—including agentic and conversational experiences—and build the team's fluency in designing beyond traditional screen-based UI.
