About The Position

You’re the person who can zoom out to see the business problem and zoom in to fix the technical one—and you know which to do when. As Senior Manager of Organic Search, you’ll own the strategic direction of client accounts, lead consultative conversations that connect SEO and AEO performance to real business outcomes, and serve as the connective tissue between execution and vision. Senior Managers are expected to operate at more than 50% of the Director’s capacity from a business perspective by mid-tenure, and to be effective in a sales-support role. You’re a People Developer, Practice Evolver, Advisory Consultant, and the person the team turns to for the hardest SEO and AEO challenges. Our clients range from B2B organizations with long sales cycles and CRM-integrated marketing to multi-location businesses across higher education, healthcare, real estate, retail, and grocery. Experience shaping strategy across both ends of that spectrum—lead-based pipeline and multi-location in-store and ecommerce impact—will serve you well here. If you thrive on building people up, evolving how a practice operates, and being the trusted advisor clients rely on, this role is built for you.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement advanced organic strategies—spanning SEO, AEO, and content—aligned with client business objectives and industry best practices.
  • Lead consultative strategy sessions with clients, framing recommendations around business outcomes, competitive positioning, and growth opportunities.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, algorithm updates, and emerging technologies—including AI-driven search and answer engines—to adapt strategies proactively.
  • Serve as a hands-on AI champion: evaluate, test, and implement AI tools across content, research, technical SEO, and reporting workflows.
  • Develop and refine AI-assisted processes and playbooks; train team members on effective and responsible usage.
  • Contribute to the organic team’s AI roadmap in collaboration with the Director.
  • Oversee the development and execution of SEO and AEO strategies: keyword research, on-page optimization, technical SEO, and answer engine visibility.
  • Execute and manage end-to-end organic campaigns, including content creation and distribution.
  • Conduct successful end-to-end SWMs.
  • Drive content strategy development, ensuring alignment with SEO and AEO goals and overall client objectives.
  • Oversee the creation of high-quality, engaging content that resonates with target audiences and supports organic growth.
  • Analyze organic campaign performance using analytics tools and deliver detailed, insight-driven reports to clients.
  • Provide team direction on reporting structures, templates, and storytelling standards to raise the bar across the practice.
  • Oversee and train on pre-meeting insights, QA, and reporting quality.
  • Act as the main point of contact for key clients, deeply understanding their business goals and aligning strategies accordingly.
  • Build strong client relationships through strategic recommendations, proactive communication, and advisory-level engagement.
  • Integrate into strategic planning across the squad to ensure organic efforts are coordinated with broader campaign initiatives.
  • Lead and mentor organic marketing professionals, fostering a collaborative, results-driven culture.
  • Provide hands-on guidance on SEO, AEO, and content creation to ensure optimal client outcomes.
  • Own team initiatives and serve as the practice’s SME voice—internally and externally.
  • Mentor and coach direct reports; conduct employee reviews and career development conversations.
  • Lead training and knowledge-sharing initiatives to raise the team’s strategic and technical capabilities.
  • Source and manage contractors to supplement capacity.
  • Review resumes, conduct screening and second-round interviews, and assess candidate suitability.
  • Collaborate with the hiring team to evaluate qualifications, consultative aptitude, and cultural fit.
  • Ensure a smooth, communicative recruitment process.
  • Collaborate with paid media, analytics, and sales teams when cross-channel value justifies the investment.
  • Contribute organic expertise to cross-channel initiatives and integrated strategies.
  • Uphold and promote the agency’s core values, fostering a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
