About The Position

This role is part of Alcon's Engineering function, a team focused on improving quality, processes, products, packaging and materials across our business to help deliver brilliant outcomes. The Sr. Manager, Manufacturing Science & Technology Engineering (Management Path), is primarily responsible for leading multiple projects to develop, implement, and evaluate new production materials, equipment, and technologies. You will be expected to build effective and meaningful relationships, conduct research and development, perform technical feasibility tests, and assess project capacity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +15 yrs; Assoc.+11 yrs; M.S.+4 yrs; PhD+3 yrs)
  • The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English
  • 7 Years of Relevant Experience
  • 5 Years of Demonstrated Leadership

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in medical device manufacturing engineering.
  • Technical understanding of plastic injection molding.
  • Technical understanding of Metallurgy & Metal manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee multiple teams, implementing departmental plans and ensuring team performance and success.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate new production materials, equipment, and technologies before mass production.
  • Conduct manufacturing research and development to solve problems related to production cost and quality and perform technical feasibility tests to ensure production efficiency.
  • Evaluate project capacity for production process design and development.
  • Develop and implement standard manufacturing procedures and evaluate production processes to reduce overall costs and determine product quality standards.
  • Arrange equipment and tools to support production.
  • Select and communicate with vendors to determine product specifications and ensure timely, budget-compliant delivery.
  • Engage with partner functions such as research and development, commercial, and quality.
  • Foster a culture of excellence by leading performance management, driving talent development, and enhancing employee engagement and recognition.
  • Make decisions affecting team operations and performance, approving team projects and resource allocation.
  • Ensure adherence to Good Practice (GxP) regulations by following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), maintaining accurate documentation, and ensuring rigorous quality control.
  • Meet individual job requirements and contribute to overall organizational compliance.
  • Commit to continuous improvement and regulatory compliance.
