About The Position

The Savannah Machinery Works (SMW) Senior Manager Maintenance and Facilities – Supports Maintenance, Facility Planning, Facility Utilization, Capital Planning, and communications within SMW, OSC, and MPS. Responsible for primary maintenance & facilities management of the Savannah Machinery Works location in to ensure reliable, cost competitive services as well as a safe and comfortable working environment, while ensuring compliance with government regulations. Responsible for the optimal functioning of building systems, evaluation of the plant and facility’s machinery and systems responsibilities to include soliciting bids, planning and overseeing of projects; assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, or 10+ years of relevant experience/training
  • Able to read, write, and present basic information clearly in small group or one-on-one settings
  • Proficient in basic arithmetic, fractions, decimals, percentages, and interpreting bar graphs
  • Capable of following written, verbal, or visual instructions and handling routine problems with practical solutions
  • Skilled in using email, word processing, spreadsheets, graphics software, and project management tools like MS Project

Responsibilities

  • Oversee maintenance, infrastructure, and facility standards to ensure optimal performance
  • Lead facility utilization planning and integration with other North American sites
  • Provide strategic input on space planning, equipment upgrades, and process improvements
  • Manage equipment inventory, valuation, and usage metrics
  • Direct construction projects, ensuring budget, schedule, and regulatory compliance
  • Develop and manage service contracts, including contractor selection and bidding processes
  • Guide selection and implementation of building systems (electrical, PLC, hydraulics, etc.)
  • Recommend operational changes to improve efficiency and productivity
  • Justify capital investments in tools and technology to enhance quality and reduce costs
  • Support mergers, acquisitions, and asset purchases as needed
  • Report performance metrics to management via KPIs
  • Contribute to master planning, renovations, and other facility initiatives
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
  • Perform other such duties as may be required
