The Senior Tax Manager position is responsible for managing all aspects of RBI’s Canada income tax compliance and the tax provision for the Canadian group of companies.

Requirements

  • Business or equivalent University degree with a concentration in accounting
  • 6+ years of corporate income tax experience at a large public corporation or in public accounting firm
  • Hands-on experience with tax provision and accounting for income taxes (ASC 740)
  • Knowledge of Canadian reorganization and foreign affiliate tax legislation, and an understanding of U.S. tax concepts

Nice To Haves

  • CPA designation preferred
  • Completed CPA In-depth tax course or MTax
  • Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office (i.e. Excel) and accounting software (i.e. SAP, OneStream, OTP) are an asset

Responsibilities

  • Support preparation and review of the Canadian income tax and information returns
  • Prepare and review of quarterly tax provision for Canadian entities, and maintain related SOX controls
  • Assist with analysis related to return to provision adjustments
  • Manage Canadian income tax audits, prepare and review responses to queries, and review assessments
  • Manage tax instalments, analysis of tax account balances and reviewing tax journal entries
  • Assist with support for transfer pricing documentation
  • Assist with calculation of tax attributes, such as ACB, surplus, safe income and FAPI
  • Assist with special projects, including tax restructuring, research and coordination with advisors and internal stakeholders
  • Provide timely tax support to business operations and internal stakeholders
  • Coordination with external advisors
  • Continuously identify and define process improvement opportunities to facilitate streamlining and automation of data for efficiency
  • Collaborate closely with tax, accounting and finance teams in Toronto and Miami
