About The Position

CarMax Auto Finance is seeking a Sr. Manager of Financial Accounting to serve as a key resource for all recurring accounting processes. This role requires deep expertise with various company financial systems and a proactive approach to identifying and implementing improvements. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills, with excellent prioritization and time management abilities. This position is based out of the Kennesaw, GA office and requires working onsite 4 days per week.

Requirements

  • CPA required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and/or Finance required
  • Five years of general accounting experience in public accounting and/or corporate accounting or financial reporting
  • Three or more years of experience leading teams, including supervising direct reports
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of accounting principles and theories, including financial statements, financial systems, and payment processing
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Sponsorship will not be considered for this specific role.

Responsibilities

  • Provide effective oversight of cyclical accounting processes, including general ledger closing, journal entries, balance sheet account reconciliations, financial statement analysis, and compilation of financial reporting and footnote support for SEC filings and earnings releases.
  • Review work completed by the CAF Financial Accounting Team, including journal entries, reconciliations, and quarterly analysis documents.
  • Partner with and serve as the primary resource for Home Office Accounting, Treasury/External Vendor Relationship, Loss Forecasting, and various other CAF departments to provide accounting and data support.
  • Lead all external audit processes, including preparation of client-prepared schedules for quarterly reviews, annual audit and SOX 404 testing, and maintenance of financial reporting process documentation.
  • Analyze data to identify and interpret trends and make recommendations for improvements to relevant business areas.
  • Participate in and/or lead special projects, such as the implementation/maintenance of new accounting standards and/or systems, and meetings.
  • Select, lead, manage, and engage a team of salaried associates responsible for accounting, reconciliation, and reporting functions.
