About The Position

Otis Elevator Company is searching for a highly motivated Sr Manager, Service Field Engineering to provide technical support and guidance to field associates. This role involves troubleshooting equipment malfunctions, providing technical direction, training field personnel on various equipment, and ensuring the quality of service work. The Sr Manager will also be responsible for continuous improvement initiatives, consulting with engineering on equipment issues, and managing systems to keep costs reasonable. Communication with customers to explain technical problems and leadership capabilities to drive accountability are also key aspects of this position. The job will require periodic travel.

Requirements

  • 5+ years relevant technical elevator experience required
  • Ability to work in a highly team-oriented and dynamic environment
  • Candidate must demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively develop expectations and relationships with internal and external customers
  • Needs to be self-motivated and able to manage many simultaneous projects and responsibilities
  • Successful candidate should be very comfortable in a technical environment utilizing Microsoft based computer software
  • Strong leadership skills, goal-orientated, strong time management and organizational skills
  • Working knowledge of Otis and non-Otis software, as well as preferred experience with current and vintage Otis and non-Otis products

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshooting: Assist OAs/OTs on malfunctioning equipment, determine corrective action, implement it, and advise personnel. Provide technical direction to branch adjusters and other field personnel.
  • Training: Provide training on all types of equipment. Offer guidance at job sites, distribute written information on service, new equipment, and mod equipment. Make regular inspection trips to consult with Service Supervisors, Construction Superintendents, Constructors, Adjusters, and Examiners on product performance issues. Assist in designing and delivering field education classes.
  • Continuous Improvement: Control and be responsible for the quality of all service work, new installations, and modernization. Monitor first inspection reports and field test/data reports, resolving service problems. Utilize CRC data to resolve problems with the highest callback units. Consult with engineering personnel on equipment issues, report, and suggest constructive changes. Determine when a problem is repetitive and warrants a design or manufacture change, seek solutions, and ensure completion. Supervise T.I.P. and Re-Work Log systems to keep costs reasonable. Assist supervisors and superintendents in selecting candidates for adjusting assignments. Observe all Otis safety policies and procedures.
  • Communication: Interact with customers at the branch level to explain technical problems. Utilize face-to-face, phone, and written communication. Ability to influence and help customers through challenging situations.
  • Leadership Capabilities: Perform well under pressure. Present to large groups. Influence others. Demonstrate professionalism and change management capabilities with customers. Drive accountability for the OT and field force.
