About The Position

The Senior Manager, Emergency Response is responsible for overseeing the company’s emergency response planning and preparedness efforts. This role ensures that Emergency Response Plans (ERPs) across the organization remain current and effective, coordinates training and drills, and manages relationships with internal stakeholders and external emergency response partners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (preferred) or equivalent relevant experience required
  • Minimum of 7–10 years of experience in emergency response, crisis management, business continuity or a combination thereof.
  • Prior airline or transportation industry experience preferred.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and collaboration skills.
  • Experience coordinating with federal agencies and third-party emergency response vendors.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, collaboration, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Strong knowledge of emergency response planning procedures and practices, preferably within the aviation industry
  • Ability to collaborate, motivate and lead across multiple disciplines within an organization
  • Exceptional organization and time management skills
  • Microsoft Office Suite proficiency, including Word, PowerPoint, Teams, and Excel
  • Experience managing a departmental budget
  • Ability to effectively communicate and present to senior leadership and executive teams
  • Experience in managing external vendor relationships

Responsibilities

  • Lead the regular review and maintenance of the company’s emergency response plan, manuals, and checklists.
  • Partners with departments across the organization to ensure their ERPs are current, reviewed regularly, and properly exercised.
  • Plan and execute training sessions, functional exercises, tabletop, and full-scale emergency response drills.
  • Facilitate drills with stations, departments, Go Team members, and emergency response partners.
  • Lead debriefing sessions following emergency response activations, and emergency response drills to ensure necessary updates and improvements are documented and actioned.
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with government agencies involved in emergency response and accident investigations, including the NTSB, DOT, FAA, and the American Red Cross.
  • Manage relationships with third-party vendors supporting family assistance and emergency response functions.
  • Oversee the Mir3 emergency notification system and support budgeting and resource planning for the emergency response function.
  • Represent the emergency response function in internal planning groups, industry forums, and emergency committees as needed.
  • Stay informed of industry best practices, incidents, and changes to regulatory requirements impacting emergency response planning.
  • Support development and refinement of business continuity plans to ensure organizational readiness in the event of critical system failures.
