About The Position

Within Thermo Fisher Scientific's Life Sciences Mass Spectrometry (LSMS) R&D team, you'll lead our Electrical and Software Engineering efforts to drive impactful innovations that solve critical scientific challenges. This senior management role combines strong technical expertise with strategic leadership to guide our team in developing cutting-edge analytical instruments in the field of Mass Spectrometry. You'll define and implement electrical engineering, firmware, and software projects while fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement. You'll partner with cross-functional teams to integrate electrical and software engineering solutions into product development, manage project budgets and resources, and drive technical excellence. This role offers the opportunity to shape the future of scientific instrumentation while contributing to our mission of enabling customers to make the world healthier, cleaner, and safer.

Requirements

  • Advanced Degree plus 6 years of experience, or Bachelor's Degree plus 8 years of experience in electrical engineering and software development
  • 5+ years of experience leading and managing R&D teams, including hiring and performance management
  • Demonstrated expertise in low-level signal acquisition, filtering, and signal processing
  • Strong track record of leading R&D projects from conception through commercialization
  • Proven ability to create and maintain technical and resource support strategies
  • Experience implementing development processes and standard methodologies
  • Strong project management skills, including budget oversight and risk assessment
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking abilities with data-driven decision making
  • Superior communication and presentation skills for diverse technical audiences
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred Fields of Study: Electrical and Electronics Engineering
  • Experience in Diagnostics, Life Sciences, or Analytical Chemistry industry strongly preferred
