Discover Impactful Work: Join our collaborative team as a Senior Software Engineering Manager - DevOps and Software Automation to lead our overall DevSecOps and Automation strategy and drive strategic technical initiatives. This pivotal leadership role will oversee the delivery pipeline of our business-critical applications in the Genetic Sciences product portfolio. You'll build and mentor high-performing engineering teams across local & global locations while establishing a culture of technical excellence and innovation. This is a high-visibility position requiring collaborative leadership across technical and business stakeholders to deliver transformative digital products that shape Thermo Fisher Scientific’s future. A Day in the Life: This role is in technical leadership, meaning the leader is expected to contribute technically but also serve as a coach and manager for a talented group of DevOps engineers. Technical Leadership & Strategy Define and drive the DevOps and cloud infrastructure vision and roadmap aligned with business goals. Oversee CI/CD pipeline development and infrastructure automation initiatives. Lead our test automation efforts and scale the test automation team. Build capability not only for test automation but also for systems automation. Lead the Cybersecurity initiatives across the product portfolio. Ensure system reliability, security, and performance through monitoring and optimization. Establish technical standards, best practices, and governance frameworks for a greater software team. Enhance software development processes and policies in alignment with the latest GenAI software practices. Lead cloud migration/modernization projects for infrastructure. Make build-vs-buy decisions and evaluate new tools & technologies. Partner with engineering teams to improve deployment velocity and developer experience. Stay hands-on enough to understand technical challenges and make informed decisions. People Leadership & Team Development Build, lead, and inspire a high-performing team of DevOps & cloud engineers. Mentor team members through technical challenges and career growth opportunities. Conduct regular 1:1s, provide constructive feedback, and create individual development plans. Foster an inclusive, collaborative culture where team members feel valued and empowered. Build cross-functional relationships with engineering, product, & business leaders. Operational Excellence & Process Establish incident response procedures and lead postmortem processes. Balance competing priorities and allocate resources strategically. Manage budgets and optimize cloud costs without sacrificing quality.
