About The Position

Dayforce is looking for a Senior Manager, Software Development to lead the full-stack mobile platform, including native development, backend services, AI experiences, and observability, supporting more than 1.4 million daily active users as they manage their work life. As a Senior Manager, Software Development, you will be responsible for the success of your team's work, including the delivery of high-quality, innovative mobile experiences, while supporting the performance, growth, and development of your team members. You will collaborate closely with Product Management and Engineering leaders to develop the technical strategy for the Dayforce Mobile platform, including Backend-for-Frontend (BFF) and domain microservices. You'll help teams balance technical trade-offs with delivering customer value through an AI-native development lifecycle while driving continuous improvement across engineering practices, stakeholder engagement, and business processes.

Requirements

  • Eight or more years of software development experience, including at least five years leading software development teams.
  • Technical expertise across mobile and backend/API development with the ability to discuss architecture, trade-offs, and emerging technologies.
  • Experience leading teams through an AI-native development lifecycle, including specification-driven development, harness engineering, and AI-assisted development tools.
  • Passion for delivering customer value for frontline workers and managers.
  • Experience planning projects and delivering high-quality software releases on schedule.
  • Experience building and leading the development of complex SaaS and cloud-based mobile applications.
  • Proven ability to identify, hire, develop, and retain top software engineering talent.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional stakeholders while balancing competing priorities.
  • Demonstrated leadership, collaboration, and willingness to contribute wherever needed.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Understanding of mobile Backend-for-Frontend (BFF), domain microservices, event-driven architecture, and RESTful and GraphQL API design principles.
  • Domain knowledge in Human Resources, Payroll, Benefits, Time, and Attendance solutions supporting frontline workforces.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of iOS, Android, and backend/BFF engineers, providing overall technical direction and guidance across the Dayforce Mobile platform.
  • Develop the long-term technical strategy for Dayforce Mobile, including the BFF and domain microservices platform strategy, and translate it into an achievable roadmap and action plan.
  • Manage project execution and delivery commitments across iOS, Android, and backend development.
  • Recommend alternative technical and business approaches and lead engineering efforts to meet aggressive timelines with optimal solutions.
  • Champion an AI-native development lifecycle, including specification-driven development, harness engineering, and AI-assisted coding, while continuously improving engineering efficiency.
  • Oversee requirements gathering, prototyping, architecture, implementation, testing, and quality reviews across features such as Scheduling, Timesheets, Benefits, and the AI Assistant.
  • Report project progress, metrics, and delivery status to senior leadership.
  • Balance resources, priorities, and project assignments to ensure on-time, high-quality delivery.
  • Maximize team productivity and performance by implementing effective engineering practices.
  • Monitor feature performance using engagement and quality metrics to guide future product direction.
  • Coach, mentor, and support team members in their technical and professional development.
  • Establish functional goals and key performance indicators (KPIs) for the team.
  • Partner with stakeholders to manage escalated customer issues and expectations as needed.
