Our Applied Research & Technology (ART) organization is seeking a Senior Manager to lead a multidisciplinary team developing next-generation mechanical and electrical solutions for defense applications. Lead talented engineers, drive rapid prototyping and technology development, and help bring breakthrough concepts from the lab to the mission!

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • 3+ years of direct or matrixed technical leadership experience.
  • Strong background in mechanical and/or electrical design, research, prototyping, or advanced technology development.
  • Experience supporting defense or aerospace development programs.

Nice To Haves

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Prior experience managing engineering teams or research groups in a technology development environment.
  • Familiarity with emerging defense technologies, rapid prototyping, model‑based engineering, and cross‑domain integration.
  • Experience in RF Communication and signal processing hardware development.
  • Experience interfacing with research customers such as DARPA, AFRL, ONR.
  • Experience working with university researchers.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of mechanical, electrical, and cross-disciplinary research engineers, providing technical direction, performance management, and career growth guidance.
  • Drive execution of research and technology development projects, ensuring quality, schedule, and alignment with ART/DART strategic objectives.
  • Oversee ideation, design, analysis, prototyping, and evaluation of novel mechanical and electrical systems for advanced defense applications.
  • Foster a strong culture of innovation, collaboration, and technical excellence.
  • Manage resource planning, staffing, prioritization, and capability development to support current and emerging R&D needs.
  • Partner with program managers, principal investigators, and business units to transition research outputs into production programs and proposals.
  • Support proposal development, project shaping, and customer engagement for both internal and external R&D opportunities.
