About The Position

This role is responsible for managing activities related to the construction of medium-to-large complexity nuclear and non-nuclear projects ranging from $500MM to $1+B in total capital cost. The position leads full lifecycle U.S.-based construction in all phases of project execution based on X-energy policies, standards, processes and procedures. The role is responsible for construction leadership and coordination with HSES, quality, engineering, procurement, fabrication, construction, commissioning and startup as well as project controls, cost estimating and contracts to develop and execute construction-driven projects. This role’s work location will vary depending on the project phase as well as execution needs. Work locations will range from corporate office, project office, fabrication yards and construction sites. Working conditions can be extreme working on active fabrication yards and construction sites, which may involve working outdoors in various weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, or wind. The noise level may be loud, with frequent exposure to heavy machinery, power tools, and other construction-related equipment. Travel, both domestically and internationally, will be required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction management, preferred.
  • 12+ years of progressing project execution experience; at least 10 years of experience in construction management, with a demonstrated track record of successfully leading complex capital projects in highly regulated industries (e.g., energy, infrastructure, or government/regulatory).
  • Demonstrate comprehensive understanding and practical experience in various project execution models (i.e., Lump Sum, Reimbursable and Hybrid EPC, EPCm, EPFCm, etc.).
  • Proven experience managing $500+ MM project staff, HSES, quality, budgets, costs, schedule, risk and reporting.
  • Proven experience in field construction leadership and coordination, from pre-site mobilization, mobilization, construction, mechanical completion, handover and closeout.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage change orders, cost and schedule impacts as well as process changes in compliance with contract requirements.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and delegating responsibilities while maintaining accountability across field and office teams.
  • Knowledge of risk management practices to identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, specifically construction-driven execution risks.
  • Experience managing stakeholder relationships across organizations including clients, owners, contractors, suppliers and consultants.

Responsibilities

  • Manages and coordinates construction projects from conception to mechanical completion and closeout, as assigned. Types of projects, include manufacturing facilities, training facilities, testing facilities, major system integration facilities, as well as nuclear fuel handling/storage facilities and nuclear power plants to support Xe business.
  • Supports project management teams (HSES, quality, engineering, procurement, subcontractors, contracts, project controls (cost, schedule, risk), cost estimating, EPC contractors, technical authorities, owners, operators, and other stakeholders) in developing construction strategies, plans, procedures, budgets, schedules and risk profiles to execute projects.
  • Provides construction oversight of in-house projects, including management, planning and advance work package development, execution and reporting.
  • Provide constructability and modularization input into engineering design to support construction-driven project execution
  • Responsible for assigned construction activities, deliverables, and milestones achievement.
  • Supervise construction personnel performance including safety, quality, and technical adequacy; set goals and evaluate performance.
  • Ensure all construction personnel are appropriately trained and certified to properly perform their assigned work in a safe manner.
  • Prepare construction presentations and reports to support meetings and reporting.
  • Always maintain professional demeanor and behavior as well as adhere to safety, quality, regulatory, and standards.
  • Perform other duties, as assigned, to support construction.
