About The Position

The Sr. Manager, Close / A2R is responsible for leading end‑to‑end accounting close and accounting‑to‑reporting (A2R) activities, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting for DePuy Synthes. This role partners closely with Finance, FP&A, Treasury, and Shared Services to strengthen close governance, improve processes, and support business transformation initiatives. The position plays a critical role in enabling high‑quality financial reporting, strong internal controls, and scalable accounting operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required).
  • Typically requires 8–10 years of progressive experience in accounting, close, A2R, or financial reporting roles.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex close processes in a large, matrixed organization.
  • Proven people leadership experience, including managing and developing teams.
  • English (required).

Nice To Haves

  • MBA or Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance (preferred).
  • Experience with A2R transformation, shared services, or global accounting models.
  • Experience with ERP and financial close systems (e.g., SAP or similar platforms).
  • Background in a manufacturing, medical device, or healthcare environment.
  • Experience supporting audits, regulatory reviews, and complex accounting topics.
  • CPA or equivalent professional certification.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to partner effectively with cross-functional and senior stakeholders.
  • CPA or equivalent (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
  • Own end‑to‑end A2R activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, variance analysis, and financial reporting.
  • Establish and maintain strong close governance, controls, and documentation to support internal and external audit requirements.
  • Partner with FP&A, Treasury, Tax, and business teams to ensure alignment between operational activity and financial results.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to streamline close timelines, improve data quality, and enhance reporting efficiency.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of accounting professionals, fostering accountability, collaboration, and high performance.
  • Support system implementations, process standardization, and finance transformation initiatives impacting A2R processes.
  • Serve as a key finance leader supporting business changes, restructurings, and other complex accounting matters.
