About The Position

Senior Manager, Cell Operations – Machine Shop Precision Fusing and Sensors is actively hiring for a Senior Manager, Cell Operations – Machine Shop in Middletown, CT. The Senior Manager is responsible for the leadership, management, direction, quality and guidance of machine shop cell including machining, specialized machining, machine parts production, parts development in addition to regular indirect leadership and in depth interaction with material management, quality assurance, inspection, planning, and program management. Maintain high standards of quality and volume production within established manufacturing costs to meet contractual requirements and customer commitments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business and/or technical discipline required or experience equivalent to a complete 4 year college program.
  • 7-10 years of experience in manufacturing operations.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, lead and manage all functions necessary to manufacture and deliver assigned products in accordance with the contract and other related requirements such as quality, procurement regulations, cost control/budgets, engineering change control, environmental compliance and others.
  • Employ lean principles to make continuous improvements.
  • Establish and maintain metrics that track performance to the requirements in quality, schedule, cost and continued application of lean enterprise to make continuous improvements in all areas of the cell.
  • Present performance and quality status to management on a routine basis.
  • Manage, develop, formulate and direct the machine shop cell for the purpose of manufacturing, inspecting and delivering products on schedule within budgetary guidelines for the specific products built in the cell operation.
  • Support the development and control of manufacturing budgets to attain company objectives.
  • Present status reports and schedule updates to management on a regular basis.
  • Guide and direct cell members in the areas of manufacturing, planning, material acquisition, and inspection by integrating these functions to support contractual requirements, assembly cell and customer needs.
  • Assist in the development and formulation of long and short range plans, operating procedures and objectives.
  • Plan and determine manpower requirements based on forecasts.
  • Aid the manufacturing and quality managers in the administration of such programs. Assure coordination and integration of workflow with continuous improvement through lean activities.
  • Timely production, accurate and timely input of proposal estimates, budgetary conformance, schedules, and utilization of personnel skills, metrics, machines, equipment and facilities.
  • Represent the manufacturing department in resolving company issues with internal staff relative to the delivery of finished product.
  • Ensure through manufacturing/industrial engineering new and existing tooling is available to meet fluctuating customer requirements.
  • Work with purchasing to ensure supplier tooling is properly maintained.
  • Develop and implement those processes and working environment that are required to meet manufacturing commitments.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication among functional departments, management and customers to facilitate problems identified and their resolution.
  • Support and aid in the development and implementation of the annual operating plans goals and objectives for the manufacturing organization.
  • Interview, hire, develop, mentor and appraise cell personnel. Guide subordinate supervisors in personnel related issues. Maintain adequately trained work group.
  • Aid management in establishing and maintaining departmental procedures for compliance with quality standards, company policy and procedures, ISO standards and contract requirements.
  • Support the enforcement of standards, policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for quality and program requirements as defined by assigned contracts and quality planning on assigned programs when required for new start-up production.
  • Through cell performance, provides quality engineering and manufacturing engineering functions, contractual data requirements list (CDRL) items, periodic customer reviews, engineering change proposals, waivers/deviations, non-conforming material and procurement quality flow-down required to satisfy customer requirements for scheduled shipments.
  • Responsible for assigned program budgets, costs to complete and compliance to quality systems requirements and procedures.
  • Required to support all environmental and safety standards.
  • Accountable for metrics and trends for key parameters of the assigned programs to show status. Metrics will include such information as SPC data, test result summaries, lean events, shipping status and budget performance.
  • Responsible for assisting engineering, business managers and senior managers in performing preliminary research on proposals of broad complex scope.
  • Maintains technical and program liaison with customers.
  • Available to travel, as required.
