About The Position

The Sr. Manager – Accounting is responsible for overseeing technically complex accounting areas including capital and fixed assets, lease accounting, and intercompany transactions, ensuring full compliance with GAAP and internal policy. This role provides hands-on technical leadership to staff across the full accounting cycle - reviewing journal entries, reconciliations, and close activities - while driving process improvement initiatives that leverage analytics, automation, and emerging AI-enabled tools to increase accuracy and efficiency. The Sr. Manager – Accounting also supports staff development, cross-functional collaboration, and continuous improvement in how the team uses data and technology to deliver reliable financial results.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited college or university.
  • At least six (6) years of progressively responsible and directly related accounting experience, including experience in one or more technical areas such as fixed assets, lease accounting, or intercompany; previous management or supervisory experience required.
  • Deep knowledge of GAAP applicable to complex technical areas such as fixed assets (ASC 360), lease accounting (ASC 842), revenue recognition (ASC 606), or intercompany transactions.
  • Ability to review and prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules for technically complex accounting areas.
  • Ability to supervise, coach, mentor, train, and evaluate accounting staff; ability to develop solutions to complex problems through data analysis and independent judgment.
  • Ability to communicate complex accounting concepts clearly to non-finance stakeholders in both written and verbal formats, including presentations to senior leadership.
  • Proficiency in analytics and business intelligence tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent; ability to build reports and dashboards that support management decision-making.
  • Demonstrated interest in and working familiarity with low-code or no-code automation tools (e.g., Power Automate, Excel-based scripting, RPA tools) to improve accounting workflows.
  • Curiosity and openness to exploring Company approved AI-enabled tools, including large language model (LLM) applications, to evaluate practical uses in accounting operations such as variance analysis, reconciliation support, or policy interpretation.
  • Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and manage multiple workstreams; ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and tight close deadlines.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across finance, operations, legal, and IT functions.
  • Knowledge of accounting systems and ERP platforms; strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel including advanced formulas, pivot tables, and data modeling.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical accounting leadership and oversight for complex areas such as capital and fixed assets, intercompany accounting, third-party revenue, and other emerging accounting matters.
  • Guide staff on complex transactions, non-routine accounting judgments, and technical standards, serving as the primary technical resource for supervised areas.
  • Review staff journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations for adherence to GAAP and internal policies, ensuring close activities are completed accurately and on schedule.
  • Prepare or review schedules, disclosures, and supporting documentation for financial statements, auditors, and senior management.
  • Assist with complex variance analysis and provide clear explanations of budget versus actual results across revenue and expense areas.
  • Develop, maintain, and evaluate accounting procedures and internal controls for supervised areas, and recommend and implement improvements that strengthen compliance, accuracy, and efficiency.
  • Build and maintain reporting using analytics and business intelligence tools to support management reporting and close analytics.
  • Identify opportunities to automate manual or repetitive accounting tasks using low-code or no-code tools, and lead or support implementation in partnership with Finance Systems or Technology Digital Solutions.
  • Explore how Company approved AI-enabled tools and large language model applications can be applied to accounting workflows, and develop dashboards and self-service reports that reduce ad hoc requests and improve timely insights.
  • Supervise personnel including work planning, performance evaluations, conflict resolution, interviewing, and hiring recommendations.
  • Provide or arrange training for direct reports, support onboarding of new personnel, and develop staff capability in both technical accounting and the use of analytics and productivity tools.
  • Monitor work schedules and staffing levels to ensure departmental needs are consistently met.
  • Respond to accounting and reporting questions from operating departments and senior management in a courteous and timely manner.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with departments including capital planning, legal, operations, and IT to support accurate financial reporting and project-driven accounting needs.
