Sr Machine Learning Engineer
About The Position
PayPal, Inc. seeks Sr Machine Learning Engineer in San Jose, CA. This role involves designing and deploying scalable traditional and generative AI solutions, and productizing ML models to enhance PayPal's customer experience. The engineer will collaborate with data scientists and backend engineers to address complex problems using AI/ML, ensuring high code quality, performance, and reliability through rigorous testing and adherence to software development best practices. The position also drives innovation by researching and integrating state-of-the-art machine learning techniques, tools, and frameworks. The role requires working in cross-functional groups within a matrix organization, developing AI agents for workflow automation, issue detection, and fix suggestions. Additionally, the Sr Machine Learning Engineer will mentor team members, provide technical guidance, and foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning. Partial telecommuting is permitted from within a commutable distance.
Requirements
- Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering (any field), or a closely related field plus three years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation. Employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering (any field), or a closely related field plus five years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
- Experience with problem-solving and programming skills using Java and Python (3 years)
- Experience with big data concepts and technologies, including Apache Spark and MapReduce (2 years)
- Experience in machine learning (2 years)
- Experience with the software development lifecycle including CI/CD, Docker, and Kubernetes (2 years)
- Experience with public cloud platforms such as GCP, AWS, or Azure (2 years)
- Experience with large language models and Agent development (1 Year)
