About The Position

Performs a variety of technical and highly specialized library assignments involved in the investigation, acquisition, organization and dissemination of library materials to include books, reports, periodicals, serials, abstracts, and manuscripts. This is a temporary part-time position (25 hours per week, 4-5 days per week) with a somewhat flexible schedule during daylight hours, ending no later than 6:00 pm. The role involves providing quality customer service, managing circulation and processing functions, assisting with interlibrary loans, and coordinating overdue material collection. Additionally, the position supports patrons and faculty with room scheduling, equipment use, and reserve materials. The Sr. Library Clerk also assists with inventory, requisitions, report preparation, and coordinates/trains work-study students and temporary staff. This role requires adherence to all applicable laws, agreements, policies, and directives, and may involve performing other clerical duties as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • One year of clerical experience in a library.
  • Must be able to operate standard office equipment including a copier, calculator, cash register microfiche/microfilm reader and a computer.
  • Ability to travel to perform work duties at any campus or center location within the CCAC system.
  • Must be able to operate various office equipment, including a personal computer and appropriate College software packages or equivalent.
  • Good organizational, customer service, communication, interpersonal and clerical skills.
  • Detail oriented, ability to multi-task meet deadlines and be a team player.
  • Required to have regular and timely attendance.

Responsibilities

  • Provides quality customer service to both internal and external customers.
  • Performs and oversees the Processing, Circulation, Periodicals, and/or functions of the library; checking in/out materials; placing holds on materials; calculator rentals; registering community members; document every question/answer in appropriate software.
  • Assists in the interlibrary loan of materials and coordinates the notification and collection of overdue materials; including notating the student account in college ERP system, collection of either the materials of the fines that have been assessed/or that it has been ended/paid.
  • Assists patrons and faculty: scheduling study rooms/library conference room; the use of microfiche/film and various AV equipment; reserve materials per faculty request every semester; respond to emails and regular mail
  • Assists in taking inventory of materials and requisitions personnel, equipment, books and supplies as needed; maintains various statistics and prepares related reports.
  • Coordinates various work assignments; reviews the work of subordinate personnel; assists in the training of new personnel.
  • Notifies supervisor of work-study and temp status
  • Performs routine library assignments involved in searching records for catalog copy, preparing bibliographies and book lists, and maintaining card catalogs and book shelves.
  • Coordinates and trains work study students and part-time temporary staff for library tasks, also participates in the hiring of work study students.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with applicable laws, collective bargaining agreements, board policies and administrative regulations and directives.
  • Performs other clerical duties for specific/unique needs of the department.
  • Performs other related duties as required or assigned.
