About The Position

Steadily is hiring a Senior Liability Claims Adjuster to help manage our most complex and high-exposure claims. If you thrive on intense pressure, lofty goals, and a fast-paced environment, this is the role for you. This is a full-time, in-office position based in Overland Park, KS.

Requirements

  • Experienced: You must possess at least 3 years experience adjusting complex liability/casualty claims. You are a savant at handling complex and catastrophic bodily injury, 3rd party liability, and litigated general liability files. You possess knowledge on how to navigate litigation and are a skilled negotiator. Experience in Homeowners, Condo, and/or Landlord claims is a plus.
  • Self-Driven: You thrive under intense pressure and can manage a large workload. There is no task too small or beneath you; "that's not my job" is not in your mantra. You are resourceful and will run through walls to get stuff done.
  • Insurance: Extensive knowledge of standard claims practices, estimating, claims processes, coverage application, liability investigations, subrogation, SIU and everything in between. Bonus if you have experience in subrogation, fraud investigation, or property damage estimating.
  • Project Management: As part of this role, you may be asked to assist in projects. Prior project experience is a plus.
  • Hungry: You want to roll up your sleeves and hustle - you are not looking for a traditional 9-5 job.

Nice To Haves

  • You have prior leadership experience. AIC and/or ARM is a plus.
  • Experience in Homeowners, Condo, and/or Landlord claims is a plus.
  • Bonus if you have experience in subrogation, fraud investigation, or property damage estimating.
  • Prior project experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Handle unrepresented, represented and litigated property and personal liability claims from start-to-finish. You will also handle 1st party property claims, as needed.
  • Establish timely contact with all parties, investigate loss details to determine legal liability, and make definitive, well-documented coverage decisions.
  • Draft comprehensive coverage letters, including Reservation of Rights
  • Evaluate, negotiate, and adjudicate claims within your established authority, ensuring timely resolution
  • Maintain meticulous claim files that exceed the expectations of internal/external auditor scrutiny, including ample documentation, regular diary entries, and strict compliance with all Fair Claims practices
  • Deliver a best-in-class service experience by setting clear expectations and providing proactive, timely communication with all insureds, claimants, and witnesses.
  • Partner with, and direct, counsel, independent adjusters, and experts, to facilitate resolutions.
  • Embrace an "all-hands-on-deck" approach to support workload surges and catastrophe response operations, which may require mandatory on-call dates, evening, and weekend work
  • Request appraisals, estimates, cause & origin reports, and various other reports to assist in the investigation of the claim
  • Review estimates and reports and issue payments as owed under the policy contract
