About The Position

We are recruiting for an experienced Senior Legal Assistant to provide remote legal support for our Brea, CA Claim Staff Legal Team. The selected individual will support 2–3 Workers' Compensation Attorneys and assist with additional office-related responsibilities. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume, paperless environment that is both dynamic and rewarding. While this is a remote position, candidates must reside in Southern California to support the team and attend quarterly in-office meetings (approximately 1–3 times per quarter) at the Brea office.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Legal Assistant in a law firm or corporate legal department.
  • Workers' Compensation experience is required.
  • Trial support experience.
  • Demonstrated experience working within the California Workers' Compensation Board system, including EAMS/Filenet.
  • Proficiency with case management software.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams).
  • Ability to meet productivity targets in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, particularly in prioritizing work for multiple attorneys.
  • Ability to manipulate electronic documents, including TIF, PDF, and JPG formats.
  • Experience using Passport, EDM, and ECOS is required.
  • Successful candidates will have experience in a high-volume litigation environment, including document production, discovery preparation, and client data maintenance.

Nice To Haves

  • Insurance defense experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize appropriate software to timely prepare correspondence, reports, briefs, motions, pleadings, deposition summaries, and other documents required by the attorneys.
  • Create and edit court documents consistent with California Workers' Compensation Appeals Board requirements.
  • Maintain attorney calendars based on court notifications, hearings, and depositions.
  • Schedule depositions and coordinate with all necessary parties.
  • Assist attorneys with trial preparation, discovery, and other litigation-related activities.
  • Provide extensive scheduling and calendar management support.
  • Review incoming mail and document productions.
  • Prepare correspondence and maintain electronic legal files.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and diplomacy in all interactions with clients, opposing counsel, home office staff, claim partners, and court personnel.
  • Provide general office support as needed, including scanning, case matching, mail handling, photocopying, limited filing, CD duplication, PDF compilation, file conversion, and other administrative tasks.
