About The Position

In this role, you will report to the Area Operations Manager and work closely with Avantor's Advanced Laboratory Services professionals to support our customer’s scientific operations through specialized laboratory support, biological sample management, inventory control, and laboratory operations excellence. Your work will help return valuable time back to science while ensuring sample integrity, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in laboratory operations, laboratory support services, sample management, or related scientific operations
  • Experience working independently in a customer-facing laboratory environment
  • Experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including intermediate to advanced Excel skills
  • Familiarity with electronic inventory management systems and laboratory databases
  • Experience with sample accessioning, tracking, inventory reconciliation, and chain-of-custody documentation
  • Experience utilizing customer laboratory systems, instrument software, and electronic documentation platforms
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout a laboratory facility
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Laboratory Science, Biology, Chemistry, Life Sciences, or related field preferred
  • Experience supporting research, biotech, pharmaceutical, or laboratory environments preferred
  • Experience with biological sample handling and laboratory inventory management is strongly preferred
  • Experience working in GxP, GLP, GMP, or other regulated laboratory environments
  • Knowledge of biosafety, privacy, and ethical requirements related to Human Biological Samples (HBS)

Responsibilities

  • Receive, label, track, and organize biological samples in laboratory systems
  • Maintain accurate sample records, inventory, and documentation
  • Store samples appropriately and monitor storage equipment, including ultra-low temperature freezers
  • Prepare, package, and coordinate sample shipments
  • Handle human biological samples following safety, privacy, and compliance requirements
  • Manage laboratory supplies and monitor inventory levels
  • Perform routine equipment checks and coordinate maintenance as needed
  • Investigate and help resolve sample, inventory, or operational issues
  • Support process improvements to enhance laboratory efficiency and quality
  • Follow all laboratory safety, quality, and regulatory requirements
  • Collaborate with scientists, laboratory staff, and other stakeholders to support daily operations
  • Perform other duties as assigned
