About The Position

As a Sr. Java Developer, you will join a Performance Engineering team responsible for enhancing the scalability, resiliency, reliability, and performance of a high-volume Java-based platform. This role focuses on identifying performance bottlenecks, developing performance testing frameworks, analyzing system behavior, and implementing solutions that optimize latency, throughput, and overall application performance across distributed environments. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in Core Java, JVM diagnostics, distributed systems, and performance engineering. You will collaborate with engineering, quality assurance, and business stakeholders to analyze production workloads, develop testing tools, and recommend improvements across application, infrastructure, and cloud environments.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
5+ years of experience developing applications using Java, J2EE, Spring Framework, Spring Boot, and Spring Cloud.
5+ years of experience working with distributed systems, real-time processing applications, relational databases, and messaging systems.
Strong Linux administration background with Unix shell scripting experience.
Extensive experience with concurrency, multithreading, and parallel processing.
Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design, and design patterns.
Experience troubleshooting JVM-related performance issues, including thread dumps, garbage collection analysis, and memory management.
Experience implementing and supporting resiliency mechanisms such as Circuit Breakers, Traffic Shapers, Load Balancers, and Failover solutions.
Experience developing and supporting high-throughput, low-latency, real-time Java applications.
Hands-on experience using monitoring and observability tools such as Splunk, Grafana, or similar platforms.
Knowledge of software development lifecycle best practices including coding standards, code reviews, version control, build automation, testing, deployment, and operational support.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, organizational, and decision-making skills.
Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and thrive in complex technical environments.
Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate alternatives and implement effective solutions aligned with business objectives.

Nice To Haves

Experience within financial services, trading platforms, or real-time transaction systems is preferred.
Experience with DevOps practices and build automation tools is preferred.
Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS and Google Cloud Platform is preferred.
Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools within Visual Studio, IntelliJ IDEA, or similar development environments is a plus.

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain performance testing frameworks using Core Java, Python, and Unix shell scripting.
Build custom performance engineering tools, mock services, and workload generators.
Gather and analyze performance requirements in collaboration with stakeholders and technical teams.
Create and execute performance testing plans including load, stress, scalability, and resiliency testing.
Monitor application behavior and identify code-level and system-level bottlenecks.
Collect, analyze, and report key performance metrics across applications and infrastructure.
Diagnose client-side and server-side performance issues and recommend optimization strategies.
Support implementation of production monitoring and observability solutions.
Analyze complex codebases and evaluate architectural impacts on performance and scalability.
Collaborate with QA and engineering teams to execute performance test runs and evaluate results.
Identify opportunities for system resilience improvements and capacity optimization.
Contribute to performance engineering best practices, tooling enhancements, and automation initiatives.
