This job is responsible for participating in or leading financial crime investigations in diversified operations within the bank to gather information relative to current or prospective clients. Key responsibilities include leading routine to complex investigation task forces, consulting on investigative related issues, identifying issues and control weaknesses, and sharing recommendations to line management to minimize exposure. Job expectations include formulating and recommending action plans in response to allegations, including crime reports and court proceedings. The Consumer At-Risk Persons (ARP) Senior Investigator - Reporter performs daily reporting of potential or suspected vulnerable adult abuse/neglect and/or financial exploitation to law enforcement and adult protective services (APS) agencies across the country. In this role, the Senior Investigator - Reporter will not complete the investigation but will engage with law enforcement and APS agencies regarding investigations completed by Consumer ARP investigators. This engagement may be via telephone, fax, email and/or through online portals to file the ARP reports required depending on state reporting statues which vary by state or US territory.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of current Fraud Investigations/At Risk Persons experience
  • Strong Analytical experience/skills
  • Strong quantitative, critical thinking skills
  • Ability to communicate and interact with a high degree of professionalism with executive level personnel across the business
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a virtual team

  • Ability to proactively identify, analyze, and improve upon existing processes for optimization and to meet deadlines
  • Experience conducting investigations involving financial crimes, fraud, or the financial industry and/or financial institution operations and products experience.
  • Exceptional communication skills; exhibits confidence and clarity of message through both written and verbal correspondence.
  • Ability to prioritize work, effective time management, initiative, and thoroughness.
  • Self-starter capable of analyzing and reporting independently
  • Proficient in Microsoft suite and other financial industry related software

  • Knowledge of the UCC I and criminal code and bank operations
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or the equivalent law enforcement, bank security or investigative work experience

Responsibilities

  • Reviews and analyzes information gathered from databases to investigate alleged financial violations committed by a person or organization, including misuse of funds, misconduct, and corruption
  • Prepares investigative reports, presents findings to senior management and relevant stakeholders, and supports control partners by recommending corrective actions to prevent future incidents and improve organizational practices
  • Coordinates investigations by providing direction to multiple investigators, identifying issues and control weaknesses, sharing potential recommendations for courses of action, and testifying in court proceedings as needed
  • Ensures the ARP investigations that are referred for state reporting are completed timely and in accordance with applicable state/territory filing requirements.
  • Utilizes existing proprietary and public reference material and tools to determine the proper method to report to law enforcement and adult protective services (APS) at the state or county level as well as timeliness reporting requirements for each state/territory.
  • Responsible for updating the ARP case management system with case notes and attachments to properly document evidence of timely and accurate state reporting.
  • Processes incoming mail and document the responses received from law enforcement and APS agencies in the ARP case management system.
  • Responsible for contacting APS and/or law enforcement via telephone and/or email, online, or fax to submit reports of elder financial exploitation and/or physical abuse/neglect
  • Ensures thorough and timely reporting according to timeframes associated with the applicable MoC “due date” as described in the 50 state Reporting Map tool
  • Maintains relationships with key business partners
  • Documents cases appropriately
  • Identify areas of concern and make suggestions for process improvements/efficiencies
  • Understand and mitigate regulatory, reputational, operational, and legal risks encountered in the course of APS/LE reporting
  • Utilize knowledge of bank systems/technology used in the course of reporting, as well as the enterprise, businesses, products, core corporate functions and bank policies
