About The Position

A role on the Enterprise Insights team means you will be a champion for our current and future guests, inspiring the organization to act in their best interest. You will help partners build consumer obsessed strategies and activations. As a Senior Insights Manager, you will report to the Director of Discretionary Category Insights and own the understanding of consumer and guest motivations, needs, attitudes and experiences to strengthen the distinct relevance of Target’s discretionary businesses. You will be responsible for designing and executing guest and consumer research to support key initiatives, triangulating perspectives across primary and secondary sources, identifying trademarked insights and translating insights into compelling stories that inspire action. As the primary insights partner for merchants and key roundtable partners, you will define learning agendas and determine the right research methods, data sources, partners and vendors to deliver the work. Requirements

  • Four-year degree or equivalent experience
  • 6+ years of work experience in Marketing Research, Consumer/Shopper Insights, and/or Experience Insights
  • Extensive experience in qualitative and quantitative research methods, and knowledgeable about syndicated and first-party insight tools
  • Proficient with conducting DIY research, and familiarity with DIY research providers (e.g., Fuel Cycle, Qualtrics)
  • Experience working with internal and external consumer data sources, including first-party behavioral data, syndicated tools, survey data, qualitative research, and marketplace or competitive signals
  • Strong experience with synthesizing data from across multiple sources both qualitatively and quantitatively to uncover meaningful insights.
  • Ability to craft a compelling narrative from insights that makes them accessible and persuasive to senior leadership, stakeholders, and partners

Responsibilities

  • Own the understanding of consumer and guest motivations, needs, attitudes and experiences to strengthen the distinct relevance of Target’s discretionary businesses.
  • Design and execute guest and consumer research to support key initiatives.
  • Triangulate perspectives across primary and secondary sources.
  • Identify trademarked insights.
  • Translate insights into compelling stories that inspire action.
  • Define learning agendas as the primary insights partner for merchants and key roundtable partners.
  • Determine the right research methods, data sources, partners and vendors to deliver the work.
  • Manage external vendors and research partners, including aligning on objectives, reviewing deliverables, ensuring high-quality insights, and holding partners accountable when necessary.
  • Provide ongoing consultation to infuse consumer-centered thinking into decision making.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, balancing speed, rigor, and business relevance.
