The Electro Optical Infrared Systems (EOIS) line of business within DRS has locations in Dallas and Austin, TX, Melbourne, FL, and Cypress, CA. Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Industrial Engineering
  • 5+ years applicable engineering experience with 3+ years experience in direct Industrial Engineering
  • Lean SIx Sigma Green Belt Certification required.
  • Successfully completed Kaizen projects
  • Knowledge of engineering processes including engineering change control, engineering labor standards and methodologies.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Clearly and effectively communicate both verbally and in written form to both technical and non-technical audiences, especially regarding manufacturing processes, engineering issues and proposed changes and dispositions
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • This position requires an active DOD security clearance or the ability to obtain such clearance within a reasonable time after commencement of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Black Belt perferable.
  • Experience with Lean/Six Sigma Manufacturing methodologies for waste reduction, 5S, Standard Work, TAKT, Pull System, single piece flow, Value Stream Mapping, cell design, and manufacturing flow.
  • Experience leading teams and projects
  • Specialties may include manufacturing, production, industrial, welding, tooling, testing, processing, software, and robotics
  • Strong proficiency using project management tools such as Project Charters and Gantt Charts preferred
  • Demonstrated ability of handling, analyzing, and presenting large volume of data utilizing statistical analysis tools like MS Excel, Minitab or JMP.
  • Experience in fast paced, high volume environments including multi-site operating experience strongly preferred.
  • Skills in the use of Autocad, Arena, Promodel, or other simulation programs preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for implementing continuous improvement tools to enhance Quality/ Yield, reduce Cost, and improve Productivity/Schedule.
  • Initiate and lead lean manufacturing process improvement projects.
  • Specify and implement equipment and processes including efficient layout and optimization of material and information flows.
  • Design shop / visual aid tooling to assist production.
  • Demonstrates technical expertise and application of engineering principles, concepts, theory, and practice with the ability to organize, plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate workloads to meet established deadlines or milestones with some experience in project leadership.
  • Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment.
  • Coordinate layout and work station move activities.
  • Prepares time estimates for proposed projects and evaluates time factors.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required enabling an effective interface with other departments and/or professionals, and capable of representing the organization as a prime technical contact, as well as providing leadership and guidance to less experienced professionals.
