About The Position

AtkinsRéalis is one of Canada's largest private sector nuclear engineering groups, with over 60 years of experience serving the nuclear industry. We are the stewards of Canadian CANDU nuclear technology. This role involves performing instruments technical specification, EQR, sizing, and selection of various types of I&C components, and producing related documentation. The position also requires tracking schedules, resolving technical issues, guiding the team, and collaborating with stakeholders. Additionally, the role involves updating and preparing I&C engineering design documents, including design requirements, descriptions, elementary diagrams, and functional specifications, along with supporting analysis and design basis documents. The engineer will also prepare, review, and approve preliminary design walkdown reports and OPEX reports, and provide input to the drawing office for I&C related engineering drawings.

Requirements

Registered Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario, member in good standing.
BS Honors degree in a relevant field of I&C/Electrical/Automation engineering.
Minimum 10 Years’ experience in conceptual, preliminary and/or detailed design of CANDU instrumentation and control systems and modifications.
Currently working/Worked for preliminary engineering, detail design and modification project activities as per standard N-PROC-MP-0090.
Currently working/Worked on AS7 and/or AS9 system, (or an equivalent asset management system).

Nice To Haves

Familiarity with Engineering Change Control/Modification process is an asset.
Experience in working with Instrumentation and Controls equipment vendors will be an asset.
Familiarity with industrial/nuclear QA programs and procedures along with pertinent CSA, IEEE, or related I&C engineering codes and standards would be an asset.
Having Nuclear site security clearance is an asset.

Responsibilities

Perform instruments technical specification, EQR, sizing, and selection of various types of I&C components and produce component-related documentation, including assessment documents.
Track the schedule and progress deadlines, resolve complicate technical issues, provide inputs and guide the team, collaborate with the external and internal stakeholders.
Update and/or prepare I&C engineering design documents, including design requirements, design description, elementary diagrams, functional specifications, etc., together with the supporting analysis/assessment documents and other design basis documents.
Prepare, Review and approve preliminary design walkdown report, OPEX report etc.
Provide input to the drawing office for the preparation of various I&C related engineering drawings such as general arrangement drawings, instrument loop diagrams, wiring and connection diagrams, bills of materials, etc.
