About The Position

Homeward Bound is Marin County’s primary provider of housing and shelter for single individuals and families experiencing homelessness, offering short- and long-term supportive housing, job training and placement, and services. The Senior Human Resources Coordinator provides day-to-day administrative support for Homeward Bound's Human Resources function and helps ensure employee processes, records, and requests are handled accurately and timely. Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, this position serves as an accessible first point of contact for employees and supports employee records, employment documentation, onboarding, recruitment, routine benefit questions, and department organization. The Coordinator also supports the Human Resources Manager with trainings, investigations, meetings, and other departmental priorities. The position will support select organization-wide operational and accessibility functions and may work directly with the Chief Operating Officer, Property Manager, or other department leaders on assigned matters. Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in Human Resources, HR coordination, or a related administrative role
  • Basic working knowledge of California and federal employment laws and HR best practices
  • Experience with HR software (ADP Workforce Now preferred), Microsoft Office, and applicant tracking systems
  • Strong communication, organization, attention to detail, and follow-through

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
  • Experience supporting a nonprofit, social services, housing, culinary, hospitality, or similarly diverse workforce is a plus
  • Experience supporting disability accommodation, accessibility, or cross-functional administrative processes is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a first point of contact for routine employee HR questions and requests, escalating complex matters to the Human Resources Manager.
  • Prepare offer letters, employment changes, separation letters, and other routine HR correspondence using approved templates and processes.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential personnel files and keep employee information current in ADP Workforce Now.
  • Coordinate onboarding, background checks, job postings, interview scheduling, candidate communication, and related recruitment logistics.
  • Assist with routine benefit enrollment and access questions, track outstanding documentation and HR deadlines, and coordinate follow-up as appropriate.
  • In partnership with and under the direction of the Human Resources Manager, assist with investigations, employee meetings, performance documentation, trainings, employee engagement, and other priorities.
  • Provide administrative and project support to the Chief Operating Officer and designated department leaders on assigned operational matters.
  • Research and follow up on assigned vendor, billing, service, or documentation issues through resolution or escalation.
  • Support cross-functional projects requiring administrative coordination and follow-through, including work with the Property Manager as assigned.
  • Coordinate the intake, documentation, tracking, and follow-up of disability-related accommodation and accessibility requests.
  • Work with the Human Resources Manager on employee accommodations and with program or property leadership on participant or facility requests.
  • Serve as Homeward Bound's designated Section 504 Coordinator, maintain required records and notices, and escalate complex matters as appropriate.
