About The Position

The primary purpose of this employee is to assist CUTX in living out its vision to deliver an unexpected experience. To achieve this goal, the employee must provide outstanding service to both internal and external members while answering calls and assisting members with HELOC and related products. Senior LO is responsible for meeting and exceeding monthly, quarterly, and yearly goals. This position works in our call center environment. Our HELOC team will work directly with our members to develop relationships that help with any disconnects in the home equity process and build trust in selling the HELOC’s that are competitively priced. You will build a rapport with members that will establish a network of referrals while working in a high-volume sales and service environment. A Senior HELOC Loan Originator (LO) will assist other HELOC Loan Originators with any system or operational questions or needs. Ability to understand and demonstrate awareness concerning collateral review, credit review and rehashes. Assign HELOC loan applications and leads department staff as needed, handles a variety of functions for the Home Equity Department and assists in the daily loan processing of home equity loans. Follow lending compliance with all rules and regulations to prevent penalties, loss for non-compliance, or potential legal action against the Credit Union. The Senior LO will work closely with the HE Sales Manager and HE Operations Manager, as needed, and will perform other duties with the department as necessary.

  • Knowledge of loan policies, procedures, and loan documents to perfect liens on collateral securing loans (Homestead/Real Estate).
  • The ability to operate a Call Management System.
  • Effectively communicate via telephone with members and other individuals who contact the Home Equity/Real Estate Department.
  • Good communication skills, using courtesy and proper grammar, to discuss credit union’s policies and procedure
  • An ability to perform multiple tasks while maintaining a high standard of performance.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and two years of experience in loan processing or funding analysis.
  • Minimum 1-2 years or more of similar or related experience.
  • Reasoning Ability: The ability to use common sense or logic.
  • Detailed: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Mathematical Ability: Basic. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Language Ability: Typical. Ability to use passive vocabulary of 7,000-9,000 words; read at a fast-paced rate; and define unfamiliar words in dictionaries for meaning, spelling, and pronunciation. Ability to write moderate to complex documents. Ability to communicate in complex sentences, using normal word order with present and past tenses and strong vocabulary. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

Responsibilities

  • Take initiative in meetings, discussing different topics of choice (best practices with sales and/or system functionality).
  • Monitor and send reminders on getting files to Ready for Disclosures within 3-day regulation guidelines.
  • Helping the team meet all referral goals. (Example, sending reminders)
  • Monitoring the phone queue, confirming staff in appropriate status
  • Assist with training new recruits and/or answering questions to current staff.
  • Monitor the no activity report and send out reminder emails.
  • Brainstorming ideas to help the department with scheduling, process, and procedures.
  • Help to lead/motivate the team to reach & exceed team and individual goals.
  • Assist other HELOC Loan Originators with their questions with any system or operational needs/questions.
  • Obtain and communicate effective knowledge of the Credit Union’s home equity and mortgage products and services to find the best fit for their financial needs.
  • Answer inbound calls about new and existing loan applications.
  • Proactively discuss and refer additional products to internal partners.
  • Meet and exceed established monthly objectives.
  • Making outbound calls to existing leads to educating members on decisions and possible alternative solutions.
  • Maintain an efficient workflow of HELOC processes.
  • Work with Junior Processor to ensure timely and accurate execution of the early disclosures within the TRID timeline.
  • Work with HELOC processors, closers, and funding team to ensure timely and accurate processing of the loan.
  • Must be able to deal tactfully and courteously with internal and external members and others face to face, over the phone, or by electronic communication.
  • Answers all HELOC related questions to other internal members, external members, or departments.
  • Must possess strong time management skills to plan and organize a high daily loan volume and fast-paced environment.
  • Must be a team player and work constructively with fellow teammates, members, and other employees.
  • Must maintain an active MLO registration through the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry (SAFE Act).
  • Enter HELOC applications into the loan processing system.
  • Maintains communication with borrowers as needed regarding any or all support documents needed to proceed with the Home Equity loan requests.
  • Complete any additional duties assigned by management.
  • Will back up the HE Sales Manager with departmental duties which will also include the Home Equity department staff.
