About The Position

The Sr. Hardwood Frame Engineer is responsible for physically fabricating new hardwood frame prototypes from detailed drawings (e.g., 2D/3D software-AutoCAD, Solid Edge, PDF, etc.). This role involves providing pertinent frame details such as cost estimates, labor, routings, and bill of materials for all new items. The engineer will program CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machine software to produce hardwood frame parts for production and support the production floor by troubleshooting any issues with existing components and engineering processes. The position requires a motivated individual with strong communication skills, high attention to detail, and the ability to manage projects and timelines with minimal supervision. The role may provide functional guidance to other employees but does not involve direct supervision.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in engineering
  • Minimum five (5) years related work experience.
  • Strong communication skills with attention to details.
  • Ability to manage projects and timelines with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to program a CNC machine.
  • Working knowledge of MasterCam, AlphaCam, AutoCAD, Solid Edge, Solid Works, SolidCam, etc.
  • Requires in-depth knowledge of work performed to operate more complex machinery and provide guidance to others.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret detailed frame drawings to physically execute and fabricate a sample hardwood frame prototype that matches the provided sketch.
  • Provide accurate engineering details such as cost and labor estimates, process routings, and bill of materials for all required frames.
  • Design, draw, program, and setup approved frame parts into 2D/3D software utilized by production.
  • Provide critical feedback to designer, R&D Manager, and other staff members regarding any frame engineering concerns that would impact quality, manufacturing, and end consumer product.
  • Develop and provide jigs, forms, and other pattern duties needed for manufacturing.
