As an Infrastructure Reliability Engineer, you will proactively drive the reliability risk identification, assessment, and mitigation for datacenter infrastructure equipment such as Air Handling Units, LV Generators, MV Transformers, LV SWGR, Breakers, UPS, and Chillers. You will also be responsible for the root cause analysis of critical equipment failures and drive continuous improvements to enhance datacenter availability for AWS customers. You will collaborate closely with internal and external partners, including suppliers, to manage key aspects of product specification, risk identification plans, and execution. Success in this role requires ownership, independence, and a results-oriented approach within an open, collaborative environment. The candidate should possess experience in using a Physics-of-Failure based approach to develop and implement both analytical and empirical methods for product quality/reliability risk identification and assessment throughout the product design, manufacturing, and deployment stages. The individual must be capable of driving AWS application-specific requirements in conducting lifecycle environmental and operational stress-driven risk analyses, including thermal, electrical, chemical, and mechanical stresses, to identify overstress and fatigue-related product weaknesses. The candidate should be skilled in evaluating not only product design quality/reliability risks but also assessing electronics manufacturing process-related quality/reliability issues. Knowledge of statistical techniques and models is essential for analyzing test and field data. At the component level, the individual will lead critical component identification and the associated vendor selection and qualification requirements. This includes leveraging knowledge of process capability for electronic component production and system-level performance requirements to establish critical-to-quality and reliability metrics. At the system level, the individual will develop datacenter system reliability models and related reliability quantification and risk analyses for datacenter configuration optimization, utilizing familiarity with system reliability engineering tools such as reliability block diagrams, statistical modeling, and data analytics. During the sustaining stage, the candidate will monitor product performance in the field, drive root cause analysis for critical failures, and implement corrective and preventive actions. The individual should also be adept at driving effective vendor auditing and quarterly review processes to foster continuous improvements in datacenter availability. The successful candidate will be recognized as an expert in reliability engineering with a proven track record in product reliability leadership, business negotiations, and program management. Strong skills in problem analysis and solving, communication, and vendor management are necessary. Travel within the US and internationally is also expected. AWS Infrastructure Services is responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure, ensuring the continuous availability of the cloud for our customers. We support all AWS data centers and the associated equipment, tackling complex challenges within a dynamic supply chain. We seek talented individuals to join our diverse team of engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, and operations managers. You will collaborate across AWS to uphold the highest standards of safety and security while delivering immense capacity at the lowest possible cost. We foster an inclusive culture that encourages bold ideas and empowers employees to see them through to completion.
