About The Position

As a Sr. Guidewire BillingCenter Developer, you will be responsible for adding functionality and preventing issues in Guidewire software, specifically BillingCenter, as several markets transition to the Guidewire system. The role requires direct experience with BillingCenter, not just integration, and familiarity with BC Plug-ins. This is a remote role with a requirement for 2 onsite days a month, and candidates must live within 100 miles of Coppell, TX. The position involves working in 2-week Agile sprints, primarily focusing on development tasks such as coding in Gosu using Studio, implementing batches, UI changes, message queues, web service integrations, modifying page configuration files, and writing unit tests. Developers also support testing by designing or executing test plans and are expected to present during code review sessions and sprint reviews to various stakeholders, potentially including large groups.

Requirements

  • Experience in a production environment.
  • Familiarity with BC Plug-ins.
  • Worked on BillingCenter, not just integrated with it.
  • Ability to be on call.
  • Experience with an Agile team or understanding of Agile concepts.
  • Prior experience with Guidewire, particularly PolicyCenter and BillingCenter doing integration and configurations.
  • Extensive experience with Java, Javascript, SQL, Gosu, IntelliJ, and Studio for coding new features.
  • Ability to use Mulesoft to build APIs.
  • Ability to use React or Node.js to work on digital apps.
  • Understanding of Postman, simple object access protocol (SOAP), and representational state transfer (REST) for web service integration.
  • Comfortable speaking and presenting in front of 20 or more people.
  • Able to clarify and explain complex technical concepts to others who may be less tech savvy.
  • Must live within 100 miles of Coppell, TX.

Responsibilities

  • Work on sprint stories in 2-week Agile sprints.
  • Code in Gosu using Studio (a version of IntelliJ customized for Guidewire development).
  • Develop batches, user interface (UI) changes, message queues, web service integrations.
  • Make changes to page configuration files.
  • Write unit tests using Guidewire’s unit testing framework.
  • Support testing stories by designing or executing testing plans.
  • Make presentations to other developers during code review sessions.
  • Present stories worked on during sprint reviews including the development team as well as product owners and other stakeholders.
  • Be on call in a production environment.
  • Triage any tickets that come in, troubleshoot, fix bugs, and review logs to get to the root cause of any issues.
  • Participate in daily standup meetings.
  • Complete projects or stories during sprints.
  • Meet frequent deployment deadlines.
