About The Position

The Texas Government Affairs Manager will advance SpaceX’s state government relations efforts across Texas. The role focuses on legislative strategy, stakeholder engagement, and policy support for SpaceX facilities including Starbase, the McGregor Rocket Development Facility, Starlink operations in Bastrop, and Terafab in Grimes County. The position requires energy, initiative, and dependability to produce results that support SpaceX’s commitment to the rapid and reliable advancement of human spaceflight and the expansion of human consciousness beyond Earth.

The position is onsite when not traveling for work events or functions; remote and hybrid work will not be considered. Travel to onsite locations, attendance at political and industry events on behalf of SpaceX and SpaceXAI, and flexibility for long hours and weekend work when necessary are required. Applicants must meet U.S. government export-control eligibility requirements under ITAR.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree.
• At least 8 years of experience working in public affairs, including state and local government policy, advocacy, government affairs, legislative navigation, and/or crisis or issue management.
• Willingness to travel to support company priorities at onsite locations.
• Flexibility to work long hours and weekends when necessary to support operations and critical project timelines.
• Willingness to attend political and industry events on behalf of SpaceX and SpaceXAI.
• Must be onsite when not traveling for work events or functions; remote and hybrid work are not considered.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. lawful permanent resident, refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or eligible to obtain required U.S. Department of State authorizations.

Responsibilities

• Lead engagement with state and local leaders across the designated region to support core SpaceX and SpaceXAI priorities.
• Develop, maintain, and build relationships with local government officials, lawmakers, and regulatory decision-makers.
• Monitor and analyze local and regional policy developments.
• Conduct research and develop policy and collateral materials as needed.
• Support the Director of Government Affairs with statewide government relations priorities as needed.
• Travel to support company priorities at onsite locations and attend political and industry events on behalf of SpaceX and SpaceXAI.
