About The Position

The Sr. Global Category Manager is responsible for category-related targets, strategy, and program development for the entire global spend/supply base in scope. This includes leveraging pooling opportunities and synergies across all Hillenbrand Opcos and Sites, modeling the optimum supply base toward market trends, demand requirements, and business objectives, and defining supply base preferences, sourcing governance (Category playbook), and Supplier targets. The role aims to maximize supply base agility and competition through Supply Market Making and Alternative Sourcing Programs, define the supply base and sourcing footprint design for the related category across all Hillenbrand OPCOs in scope, and drive the development and execution of category-related funnel measures to achieve defined targets. These goals are to be achieved with financially and ethically sound methods, with an emphasis on the principles of the Hillenbrand Operating Model (HOM).

Requirements

  • > 10 years’ experience in Strategic Procurement
  • Several years’ experience in global sourcing in European, Asian and North American markets
  • Several years’ successful in global Project and Program Management and in leading interdisciplinary cross-functional team
  • Global sourcing experience and advanced intercultural sensitivity and teamwork
  • Advanced Negotiation skills and solid understanding about game theoretical awarding events and e-auctions
  • Advanced analytical and conceptual skills combined with the ability to drive results and use the relevant IT tools (e.g. PowerBI)
  • Advanced knowledge about Source-2-Contract processes and Supplier Contract Management
  • Commodity market expertise
  • Total Cost of Ownership business case calculation incl. make vs. buy
  • Clean-sheet/should costing methodology
  • GSM processes & governance
  • Supply base risk management
  • Project management
  • Proficient skills in Business English

Responsibilities

  • Modeling of optimum supply base toward market trends, demand requirements and business objectives
  • Create category intelligence to understand market trends, technologies, benchmarks, cost and value drivers
  • Assess supply base capabilities and performance against supply market benchmarks and demand requirements
  • Classify suppliers as per the supplier preference model and define supplier development targets
  • Define the category playbook with clear rules to be applied by Project GSM and Supplier Account Managers
  • Plan and align financial, operational, and business targets.
  • Define funnel measures and execution plan
  • Maximize supply base agility and competition through the Supply Market Making and Alternative Sourcing program
  • Develop a strong funnel of alternative sourcing projects to optimize the supply base and increase shiftability
  • Define convincing business cases to ensure full commitment by all relevant business stakeholders
  • Lead the execution of the sourcing projects funnel by applying Advanced Negotiation Concepts at scale
  • Relentlessly drive and monitor impact from category-related Supplier Account Management
  • Review and approve supplier-related targets and funnel measures proposed by Supplier Account Managers
  • Define and drive elevated Key Supplier objectives on demanding targets and support critical supplier meetings
  • Initiate and plan cost mastering and the supplier development project funnel
  • Manage master purchase agreements including amendments (e.g. logistics, quality, sustainability)
  • Monitor and relentlessly drive the execution of category-related funnel measures to achieve the defined targets
