Requirements

  • 42 mos. exp. or 42 mos. trg. in accounting &/or finance to include an advanced level of experience in spreadsheet software.
  • OR completion of undergraduate core program in business administration, accounting, finance or related field; 18 mos. exp. or 18 mos. trg. in accounting &/or finance to include an advanced level of experience in spreadsheet software.
  • OR completion of graduate core program in business administration, accounting, finance or related field; 6 mos. exp. or 6 mos. trg. in accounting &/or finance to include an advanced level of experience in spreadsheet software.
  • OR 12 mos. exp. as Financial Analyst, 66562.
  • OR equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.
  • NOTE: Successful completion of the Fiscal Academy may be substituted for 4 mos. of required accounting/fiscal experience referenced in this portion of the minimum qualifications.
  • Knowledge of (1)BWC policies & procedures, (2)cost & financial accounting, (3)applicable state &/or federal laws, rules, procedures & standards governing fiscal accounting & budgetary operations, (4)BWC Financial Reporting policies & procedures, (5)investment accounting &/or finance (e.g., Principles of Accounting, Managerial Accounting, Finance, Auditing, Governmental Accounting) , (6)compliance requirements for investment portfolios, asset classes & individual manager portfolios, (7)trade communications, (10) accounting information systems, (11) investment information available from the master record keeper (BNY Mellon) & custodial bank, (12)performance calculations in compliance with Global Investment Performance Standards.
  • Skill in (1)use of calculator, (2)use of personal computer & peripheral equipment (e.g., printer, keyboard), (3) investment accounting (e.g., preparing investment accounting journal entries, reconciliation of investment portfolios & calculations &/or investment performance calculations) , (4)use of MS Office Software (e.g., Word, Access, Outlook), (5)use of MS Excel, (6)communicating, both verbally & in writing to various levels within the organization.
  • Ability to (1)read, interpret & analyze technical financial materials, (2)recommend any accounting & reporting changes as needed & as required, (3)deal with complex & technical fiscal variables, (4)gather, collate, classify information about data, people, things, (5)coordinate reconciliation between financial parties & maintain professional verbal & written communications with bank, master record keeper, & outside investment managers, (6)prepare complex financial accounting reports, (8)prepare &/or edit technical fiscal material, (9)handle complex financial accounting issues in verbal & written form, (10)prepare meaningful, accurate & concise reports to include accurate recommendations, (11)use proper research methods to gather data.

Responsibilities

  • Under direction of Investment Accounting Supervisor evaluates and coordinates outside investment manager trade communication with the custodial bank and master record keeper.
  • Reviews daily investment manager bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy and timeliness and works with outside parties to resolve reconciling items.
  • Design and prepare ad hoc financial investment accounting report and conducts special projects.
  • Monitors investment portfolio to ensure in compliance with BWC’s Investment Policy and the contract the investment manager was hired to manage.
  • Maintain professional working relationships, work within defined productions schedule, utilizing strong critical thinking skills to manage time efficiently, prioritize tasks, resolve issues, and develop well-supported conclusions.
