Requirements

High School diploma/GED and minimum 1 year of experience in a related field (for Field Tech).
High School diploma/GED and minimum 2 years of experience in a related field (for Power Systems Tech II).
High School diploma/GED and minimum 5 years of experience in a related field (for Power Systems Tech III).
Associate degree in related field or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years of experience or 10 years of related experience (for Power Systems Tech IV).
High School diploma/GED or equivalent experience and 5 years of experience in a related field (for Sr. Field Tech).
Knowledge of various industry standards such as: NETA, NEC, OSHA and NFPA.
Knowledge of the National Electrical Code and various industry standards, such as NETA, OSHA, IEEE and NFPA (for Sr. Field Tech).
Hands-on experience testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintaining high-voltage substation equipment (69kV–345kV), including protective relays, breakers, transformers, and control systems (for Field Tech).
Strong background and experience in most types of high voltage equipment through the 230 kV class (for Sr. Field Tech).
Must be able to work safely and adhere to all electrical safety procedures.
Good theoretical understanding of electricity and a good aptitude for problem solving.
Effectively communicate verbally and in writing with customers and peers.
Dependable and responsible with good judgment and organizational skills.
Good customer service, time management and follow-up skills.
Work effectively with customers, peers and management to resolve client issues.
Strong computer skills with working knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office- use of Internet for standards/products/manufacturer research.
For positions that utilize a company vehicle, will be required to have a valid driver’s license.
NETA Level II Certification (for Power Systems Tech II).
NETA Level III Certification (for Power Systems Tech III).
NETA Level IV Certification (for Power Systems Tech IV).

Responsibilities

Perform service, test and maintain various types of power transmission and distribution equipment.
Inspect, test, troubleshoot, perform start-up and collect data of low, medium and/or high voltage (to 765kV) electrical systems.
Perform switchgear and circuit breaker testing.
Perform inspection, maintenance, testing and/or repair of transformers, and all related equipment – 45 KVA to 1,120 MVA.
Fill and work with SF6 filled GCBs and gas insulated switchgear.
Perform testing and inspecting of low and medium voltage cable installations.
Operate high voltage test equipment including Doble M4000 series test sets.
Perform commissioning, troubleshooting, and repair services on controls and transfer schemes.
Complete projects consistently on budget and at a reasonable contribution.
Complete on-site job reports.
Mentor, lead level I and level II Techs as directed by Supervisor/Manager (for Tech III and IV).
Responsible for performance and management of routine and moderately complex tasks and projects, record keeping, evaluation of test data, and responsibility for the safety of others (for Tech III and IV).
Qualified to provide guidance and can perform electrical power switching (for Tech III and IV).
Supervise large projects and multiple crews and can work independently (for Tech IV).
Perform complex investigations, tests, and evaluations, and prepares written reports as needed (for Tech IV).
