About The Position

The Senior Field Service Technician will mainly be dispatched for our Chicago based customers and will mostly stay within the Illinois area but can be asked to travel as needed to other airports within the continental United States. The senior level GSE Technician will perform diagnostics, repairs, upgrades, and maintenance on a wide variety of ground support equipment (GSE). This includes servicing diesel and electric-powered vehicles, hydraulic systems, and electrical control systems. This position requires strong technical knowledge in electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems for onsite equipment diagnostics and programming. Technicians will work independently in the field, often dispatched weekly, and are expected to provide technical support and hands-on service in a professional, efficient manner. Must have previous GSE experience to be considered only. We pay a per diem every night you spend away from home when traveling and all your travel expenses. This is hourly, so we pay overtime as well.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED and five (5) or more years of relevant experience in machine assembly, light fabrication; or previous relevant contracting experience with Oshkosh Corporation; or an equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the role.
  • Ability to travel up to 50-60%.
  • Proficient in electrical diagnostics and repair.
  • Proficient in mechanical systems and component-level service.
  • Proficient in hydraulic diagnostics and repair.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
  • Ability to work independently with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to obtain a passport if necessary.
  • Must be able to work productively and cohesively in a diverse and multicultural environment.
  • Previous GSE experience.

Responsibilities

  • Travel to customer sites (approx. 80% travel) to provide hands-on service for various types of ground support equipment (GSE) including aircraft tow tractors, container loaders, aircraft deicers, baggage and cargo transport vehicles, and other airport GSE with ICE or EV platforms.
  • Diagnose, repair, and perform routine maintenance on hydraulic systems (including pumps, motors, actuators, and valves).
  • Diagnose, repair, and perform routine maintenance on electrical systems (wiring, fuses, relays, sensors, and control modules).
  • Diagnose, repair, and perform routine maintenance on mechanical systems (suspension, steering, drive assemblies).
  • Interface with PLC systems to upload/download programs, troubleshoot logic, and perform control system adjustments.
  • Collaborate with dealer technicians via phone/email or on-site for troubleshooting assistance.
  • Review technical documentation, manuals, and schematics to ensure accurate service procedures.
  • Maintain detailed documentation through work order systems; ensure issue resolution and service reporting.
  • Participate in OEM testing and equipment upgrades, as needed.
  • Provide end-user product orientation and safe operating procedures at customer sites.
  • Mentor or train junior or less-experienced technicians in-field when required.
  • Other projects and responsibilities may be added at the company’s discretion.
