Sr. Facilities Engineer
About The Position
The Sr. Facilities Engineer will support the development of facility layouts, schematics, and design documentation using CAD/BIM tools. This role involves supporting the design and specifications of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire safety, and structural systems. The engineer will lead design reviews, technical studies, and feasibility assessments for new or modified facilities, providing Subject Matter Expert (SME) technical guidance on design decisions, equipment selection, and system integration. Responsibilities include managing design deliverables, schedules, and budgets across multi-discipline project teams, ensuring designs comply with relevant codes and regulations, and developing facility design standards. The role also requires coordinating with contractors and stakeholders, serving as a technical authority, mentoring junior engineers, and supporting procurement processes. Additionally, the engineer will contribute to continuous improvement, integrate safety protocols, and drive energy efficiency and sustainability goals, including LEED certification support.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Chemical or Mechanical Engineering is preferred)
- A minimum of ten (10) years of experience of relevant pharmaceutical facilities design experience or related experience.
- Excellent verbal/written communication skills (English and Spanish)
- Experience with project management and budgeting.
- Strong knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and regulations governing manufacturing and design areas
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and experience in conducting rigorous analysis on pharma process related systems

Responsibilities

- Mentor junior engineers and support cross-functional teams with specialized knowledge.
- Support procurement and EPC contractors with technical clarifications and design reviews.
- Contribute to lessons-learned programs and continuous improvement of engineering practices.
- Integrate safety protocols, OSHA compliance, and risk mitigation into all design phases.
- Drive energy efficiency and sustainability goals, including support for LEED certification.
