Sr Facilities Engineer (56151)

Riley PermianOklahoma City, OK
Onsite

About The Position

The Sr Facilities Engineer will support the design, execution, optimization, and integrity of upstream oil and gas surface facilities across operated assets in the Permian Basin. This role is responsible for providing facilities engineering leadership from concept through operations, ensuring infrastructure safely supports production targets, regulatory compliance, and long‑term asset value. The ideal candidate brings strong technical judgment, a hands‑on operating mindset, and experience executing projects in a lean, fast‑moving upstream environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Petroleum, or related Engineering discipline.
  • Significant experience in upstream oil and gas facilities engineering, preferably within the Permian Basin or similar unconventional plays.
  • Demonstrated experience executing capital projects and providing operational facilities support for producing assets.
  • Strong working knowledge of industry codes and standards (ASME, API, NFPA, B31.x, pressure vessels, tanks, and pipelines).
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and make sound engineering decisions in an operating environment.
  • Experience with compression systems, gas gathering, vapor recovery, emissions control, and water disposal infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with process modeling and facilities software (e.g., HYSYS, ProMax, PipeFlow, or similar).
  • Strong understanding of capital efficiency, lifecycle cost optimization, and economic trade‑offs.
  • Experience working directly with field operations and construction teams in a hands‑on role.

Responsibilities

  • Design and oversee oil, gas, and water handling facilities including central tank batteries, compression, dehydration, vapor recovery, pipelines, measurement, and saltwater disposal systems.
  • Lead projects from conceptual design through construction, commissioning, and startup, ensuring alignment with REP standards and operating objectives.
  • Develop scopes of work, cost estimates, schedules, economic evaluations, and AFEs for capital and expense projects.
  • Review and approve engineering deliverables such as process flow diagrams, P&IDs, equipment sizing, layouts, and specifications.
  • Provide day‑to‑day facilities engineering support to Operations and Production teams, including troubleshooting, capacity analysis, reliability improvements, and root cause investigations.
  • Identify facility constraints impacting production, gas takeaway, compression, or water handling and implement cost‑effective solutions.
  • Support brownfield optimization, debottlenecking, and facility upgrades to maximize asset uptime and efficiency.
  • Support REP’s focus on gas capture, flaring reduction, and methane emissions management, including facility designs that minimize venting and flaring.
  • Ensure facilities comply with applicable state and federal regulations (TX RRC, NMOCD, EPA, air permitting, LDAR, pressure equipment, pipeline codes).
  • Participate in and support MOCs, HAZOPs, PSSRs, and incident investigations related to surface facilities.
  • Manage and oversee engineering consultants, fabrication vendors, and construction contractors, ensuring safe execution, quality control, and cost discipline.
  • Coordinate closely with Supply Chain, Construction, HSE, Regulatory, and Operations teams to deliver projects safely and efficiently.
  • Serve as a trusted technical resource for facilities design standards, best practices, and lessons learned.
  • Contribute to long‑range field development planning and infrastructure strategy for operated assets.
  • Mentor junior engineers and support development of internal technical capabilities.
