About The Position

The Sr. Facilities Electrical Engineer is responsible for supporting the design, operation, maintenance, reliability, and continuous improvement of critical electrical infrastructure and facility control systems within a semiconductor manufacturing environment. This role serves as a key technical resource for power distribution, electrical utility systems, facility automation, PLC controls, SCADA platforms, and capital expansion projects. You will partner closely with Facilities, Manufacturing, Process Engineering, EHS, Quality, Construction, and external contractors to ensure safe, reliable, and scalable facility operations that support 24/7 manufacturing activities. The position combines approximately 80 % electrical engineering responsibilities and 20% controls/automation engineering responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 3 years experience; or equivalent experience
  • Experience with electrical power distribution systems and industrial controls.
  • Experience troubleshooting PLC-controlled systems.
  • Strong understanding of electrical safety practices and NFPA/NEC requirements.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience supporting electrical systems, facility engineering, or industrial automation in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in semiconductor, electronics, advanced manufacturing, pharmaceutical, or cleanroom environments.
  • Experience with: PLC programming and troubleshooting, SCADA/Wonderware systems, Building Management Systems (BMS), Chillers, boilers, exhaust systems, and utility infrastructure, and Power quality monitoring and electrical system studies
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
  • Experience with facility system integrations and automation projects.
  • Familiarity with Siemens controls platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Support operation and maintenance of medium- and low-voltage electrical distribution systems serving manufacturing and facility operations.
  • Establish monitoring and improve reliability of power distribution equipment including switchgear, automatic and static transfer switches, transformers, UPS systems, generators, breakers, and distribution panels.
  • Analyze system performance, calculate capacity versus demand, identify reliability risks, and implement corrective actions.
  • Support electrical system installs, modifications, upgrades, and preventive maintenance programs.
  • Lead or support capital and expense projects involving facility electrical systems and controls.
  • Develop project scope, specifications, budgets, schedules, and commissioning plans.
  • Coordinate work with contractors, consultants, equipment vendors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Support factory expansion, utility upgrades, and infrastructure capacity planning efforts.
  • Design, program, troubleshoot, and optimize PLC-based control systems.
  • Support SCADA and Wonderware platforms used to monitor facility operations.
  • Integrate facility systems including HVAC, chillers, boilers, exhaust, vacuum, compressed air, and water treatment systems.
  • Perform I/O troubleshooting and system diagnostics to minimize downtime.
  • Respond to facility-related issues impacting production.
  • Provide root cause analysis and corrective actions for recurring electrical and communication failures.
  • Support startup, qualification, and commissioning new equipment and facility systems.
  • Partner with manufacturing teams to improve operational reliability and equipment uptime.
  • Ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA, OSHA, local building codes, and semiconductor industry standards.
  • Support environmental, health, and safety initiatives.
  • Participate in risk assessments, incident investigations, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Create and maintain electrical drawings, panel schedules, specifications, SOPs, and preventive maintenance procedures.
  • Develop technical documentation and training materials.
  • Drive reliability, energy efficiency, and cost-reduction initiatives through data-driven analysis.
