About The Position

This position supports the development of aircraft structures as a Fatigue and Damage Tolerance analyst. Duties include performing complex F&DT analysis for metallic parts while working in close collaboration with design and static stress colleagues. Methods include the use of both classical hand calculations and computer techniques to develop high strength to weight ratio structures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Engineering (Aero, Civil, Mechanical) with a strong curriculum emphasis on structural design and analysis and mechanics of materials.
  • 7+ years total experience in Static Stress and F&DT analysis with airframe structures
  • Position requires in-depth knowledge of classical and numerical (Finite Element) stress analysis methods.
  • Capable of working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment both independently and collectively.
  • Dependable, self-motivated and accessible.
  • Team player demonstrating a positive & collaborative attitude.
  • Able to lead small teams technically to achieve agreed milestones.
  • Able to effectively prepare and deliver detailed, complex presentations inside and outside the organization
  • Strong computer background, including MS Excel and Google Suite application experience (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Gmail)
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English (verbal and written)
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively interface with all levels of personnel and disciplines.
  • Demonstrates a high level of listening and oral skills by leading discussions on issues, solutions, ideas and status of work.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in an Engineering discipline
  • Experience in composite airframe structures
  • Experience in airframe design (metallic & composites), stress analysis, SRM, MRB, FAR/JAR/CS/Part21, Certification, CATIA, NASTRAN, and PATRAN, is desired.
  • Software coding in C, C++, Python, or other programming languages
  • Working knowledge of all Airbus Structures; Knowledge of Airbus stress/fatigue manuals and tools.
  • Conversational French and/or German

Responsibilities

  • Autonomously perform complex durability and damage tolerance analyses to verify that structural integrity requirements have been met.
  • Team assignments may include detail part sizing, layout maturation, trade study analysis, weight reduction efforts, certification activity, or in-service support.
  • Document analyses in support of trade studies or detail drawing sign-off for airframe structure.
  • Liaise with Design, Static Stress and other appropriate Airbus departments to come up with optimum design solutions.
  • Accept broad objectives with agreed deadlines and establish the tasks required and how they should be completed. Works independently.
  • Apply extensive technical expertise and has full knowledge of other related disciplines.
  • Ability to obtain Authorizer Technical Signatory. Has obtained and utilizes Approver Signatory effectively.
  • Mentor and provide leadership to less experienced structural analysts.
  • Lead in the preparation of complex business and technical material and presentation packages.
  • Demonstrate a high level of listening and oral skills by leading discussions on issues, solutions, ideas, and status of work.
  • Guide and/or lead the successful completion of projects and execute activities to achieve customer requirements.
  • Key technical contact on contracts and projects. Interacts with senior external personnel on major technical matters.
  • Identify and support local improvement initiatives to increase team efficiency through process, methods and tools improvements.
